6ft VGA to 3 RCA Component Video Cable (HD15 - 3-RCA)
This cable is intended for use with projectors that use a VGA connector for its component (YPbPr) video connection. This cable DOES NOT CONVERT VGA signals to component video or vice versa - it functions only with devices that use the VGA connector for component video.
This cable has an DE15 (HD15) VGA/SVGA connector on one end and three, color-coded RCA connectors on the other end. The connectors and pins are gold plated for smooth, corrosion-free connections.

| 6ft VGA to 3 RCA Component Video Cable (HD15 - 3-RCA) | | | Question: What's the difference between Y,Cr,Cb component, and Y/Pb/Pr component? | Answer: Both deliver up to 1080i video through 3 rca plugs(red, green, blue) but the difference between Y,Cr,Cb and Y/Pb/Pr is that YPbPr is the analog version of the YCbCr color space.
When connecting devices with converters, it's important to note whether your source is sending analog(Y/Pb/Pr) or digital(Y,Cr,Cb) and conversely if your display supports that type.
Example: Hooking up a device that outputs YCbCr component WILL NOT work when connected to a Y/Pb/Pr display/monitor | | Question: What is the difference between VGA and Component Video Signals? | | Answer: VGA signals are also known as RGBHV (RGB for short). Component signals are what is known as Y, Pr, Pb. The difference is that the RGBHV carries Red, Green, Blue, horizontal sync and verticle sync all on separate lines. Y, Pr, Pb carries red on one line, blue on one line and then combines the sync with the green on a third line. | | Question: Does this cable convert VGA signals to Component signals or visa versa? | | Answer: No, This cable merely adapts the corresponding signal pins on a HD15 (VGA) connector to the contacts on the 3 RCA (Component) connectors. The actual device being used must be able to distinguish between the two different types of signals. | | Question: I purchased this cable and all I get is a Green picture. Is the cable defective? | | Answer: When you feed a component signal into a VGA (RGB only) port, it usually results in a green picture. You must change the VGA ports setting so that it can recieve a Component (Y, Pr, Pb) video signal. | | Question: I have my component source device connected to my projector but I am not getting a picture. | | Answer: Sometimes we get a batch where the color coding is crossed (color blind machine operator at the factory I guess). Try connecting the blue connector to the green terminal on your device and the green connector to the blue terminal. | | Question: Why do some of your component cables have 5 RCA connectors while others have only 3? | | Answer: The 5 RCA cables have two additional connectors to connect the left and right audio channels. The 3 RCA connector cable transmit component Video only. | | Question: What is RG59 and RG6? | | Answer: RG stands for Radio Guide. It's a specification for types of Coaxial cables. It defines specs such as gauge and impedance. In this case, RG6 uses a thicker gauge than RG 59 and both are 75ohm. | Question: Will this cable allow me to connect my Component source device (DVD, Cable Box, etc) to my VGA computer monitor? Will this cable allow me to connect my VGA source (computer) to my televisions Component input? | | Answer: No. | | Question: What resolution will these cables support? | | Answer: Up to 1080p. |

| | Fast and Easy | Pros: So easy to find, choose and use!
Cons: Wish I would have specified Audio/Video (YRW) rather than 3RCA which ended up being RGB instead.
Going to buy again and again!

| | beware | Pros: Looks like it's well built
Cons: Incompatible for most laptops. Description should give more details.
IS NOT UNIVERSAL! This cable is only for a very particular type of VGA output. Standard VGA output is RedGreenBlue (RGB) and Horizontal sync and Veritcal sync. Standard Component video input to TVs is YPbPr which combines green with the sync, Pb is blue-green, Pr is red-green. Most laptop computers do not have the option to output YPbPr.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello Jared,
My apologies for any misinformation or confusion on the cable. I will speak with our Product Team about getting the description edited to reflect this. If you like I can issue an RMA for a return, I would just need an order number to get things started. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Sincerely
