Z-Wave Light Dimmer Plug In - NO LOGO
Dim a light wirelessly using this Z-Wave® Light Dimmer from Monoprice!
Z-Wave is an interoperable, two-way RF mesh networking technology used for home automation and security. AC-powered Z-Wave devices, such as this dimmer, act as signal repeaters for the Z-Wave network, so multiple devices result in more possible transmission routes, which helps eliminate RF "dead spots" in the network. Any Z-Wave enabled device displaying the Z-Wave logo can be used with Z-Wave devices from other manufacturers.
This Light Dimmer can be operated remotely, using the Z-Wave controller, or directly, using the Program Switch on the device. It plugs into a standard NEMA 5-15 power outlet and includes both a Z-Wave controlled outlet and standard, unswitched outlet. It is designed so that, when it is plugged into a standard two-plug wall outlet, it will not block the other power socket. This module supports FLiRS.
The dimmer uses the leading-edge phase-cut (TRIAC controlled) method of dimming and is suitable for use with resistive and inductive loads, which include incandescent and halogen lamps. It will work with some LED lights, but others won't work properly, even if from the same manufacturer. When using LED lighting, always make a mock-up of your project to test the compatibility of specific LED bulb models and the total load with this dimmer prior to installation.
The following Monoprice branded LED lights have been tested and found to perform as expected in a single-bulb installation with this dimmer:

| | Descent but limited range | Pros: Cheap Nice Diming, when turned off, dimms to off.
Cons: Range is weaker then similar competing products
I have had this for 2 or 3 months now, it has much reduced range compared to a appliance power module from another vendor. Hard to beat for the price, but doesn't make a good repeating device.

| | Works as expected | Pros: Works well and interfaces easily with SmartThings hub
Cons: Manual is lacking instructions on how to enter pairing mode
This product works as expected. However as far as price goes, similar products can be gotten all day long at the same or slightly better prices the "no logo" thing doesn't offer much value.
Also, the manual didn't show any instructions about how to enter pairing mode. I had to figure it out from a separate resource. Once I did however it was easy enough to add to my Z-wave network.

| | Works flawlessly | Pros: -Works great
-Easy to install
-Low price
-Well Made
Cons: None
I ordered 3 of these just to try them out. The connected to my VeraLite system perfectly. They dim and brighten very smooth. I just purchased 3 more and will be buying more. Well-done, Monoprice.
I'm using these in LED installations and don't have the trickle issue mentioned by previous reviewer.

| | Not perfect but it works | Pros: Easy to add to Z-Wave controller, pass-through outlet adds a lot
Cons: Does not turn off 100% when off: some current trickles through allowing some lights (particularly LEDs) to glow at a low level when they should be off - almost like a night light.
This is a standard Z-Wave lamp control module with dimming capabilities. It is easy to add to an existing Z-Wave controller. As is common with most of these devices, "remove" it first before adding it. Once added, the controller has no problem communicating with the device. The only issue that I have is that when the device is turned OFF it allows some current to trickle through, causing LED lamps to glow at low level if they are dimmable. A solid off setting would be preferred. The power pass through (unswitched) outlet makes this device more flexible than similar devices without a pass through outlet.
