Z-Wave Shock Sensor- NO LOGO
Monitor your doors and windows for intrusion using this Z-Wave® Shock Sensor from Monoprice!
Z-Wave is an interoperable, two-way RF mesh networking technology used for home automation and security. Battery-powered Z-Wave devices, such as this sensor, "wake up" when triggered and broadcast a Z-Wave alarm signal, which can in turn be used to activate other devices or perform preprogrammed tasks. Any Z-Wave enabled device displaying the Z-Wave logo can be used with Z-Wave devices from other manufacturers.
This sensor detects the vibrations made by an intruder trying to break into a window or door When triggered, the sensor sends a wireless Z-Wave alarm signal, which can be used as a simple alarm or as a trigger to activate or perform other functions, such as illuminating a spot light on the subject area. It also has a tamperproof switch, which causes a different alarm signal to be sent when triggered. The sensor's sensitivity can be adjusted, so the system can be configured to ignore spurious vibrations, such as those caused by a passing car with a too-loud stereo system.

| | Z-wave Shock Sensor | Item paired easily with Smartthings hub and was light enough to mount on an aluminum framed window. Sensitivity settings allowed adjustment so as to provide notification with only a finger rap on the window pane. This is the fourth Monoprice Z-wave product that I have purchased. All have easily paired and operated with the Smartthings hub and applications. The Monoprice product line is reasonably priced and quality constructed.

| | Works with StaplesConnect | Pros: Works with StaplesConnect.
Cons: None so far.
Seems to work, though I have only had it installed for a couple days. I did not mess with sensitivity but may when we watch a movie and turn on the bass. It is located for window breakage near French Doors at back of house (break window in door, walk into house). No false positives and the YouTube "test" worked.

| | Work well after you get them calibrated | Pros: Very easy to set up when everything works well. They are responsive and have an alternative dry contact sensor inside that you can use to attach additional sensors
Cons: One of the batteries that arrived with the units was bad. It wasn't dead, but was too low. It caused an error that made the device partially functional and appear defective. This small oversight cost me quite a bit of time troubleshooting and ultimately thinking the unit was faulty. I almost wasted more time in the RMA process.
Please ensure that the batteries that are supplied with these products are fresh, especially if low batteries appear to make the device malfunction.

| | worked for a short time | After a month these became worthless. They started tripping at nothing. Un-paired and re-paired with my vera. Also manually turned down the sensitivity to the lowest setting and they still trip. I am thinking about stuffing some cotton into the sensor. I cannot link these to a siren because they go off for no reason. This did not occur in the first few weeks. Cannot recommend these for any use at this time.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues experienced with PID 11988. I see that you have purchased three of these shock sensors. If I may ask, is this occurring with all three units? Were there any changes made to the setup prior to this issue? Can we try changing out the batteries to see if any difference is made? Also, can we test them out in a different location? Please let me know so we can best assist you in resolving this issue. Thank you in advance!

by Travis Howard Hey Gabby. I am only having problems with 2 of the shock sensors. I will move the location of them and test them. The problem with swapping the battery is they are not a standard type of battery. No changes were made to the system. I wanted to test them for a month before i hooked them into a z-wave siren. I am glad I did. They are on the lowest detection setting. I can not "turn them down". I have them currently attached to my doors... as sensor's for people kicking down my doors.
by Travis Howard I disabled the two offending shock sensor's last night. The one that was not having a problem started going off crazy like today. I am not sure what is going on, but it only seems to be happening with the shock sensors.
by Monoprice Administrator Thank you for the update, Travis! I am truly sorry that the third sensor is experiencing the same issues now. Just to verify, were you able to test the sensors in different locations last night just to see if they continued to go off? Also, what is the make and model of the hub in use?
If the issues still occur, I can assist you in setting up an RMA for replacements to see if they will work any better. Or, if truly unsatisfied with the sensors, I can set them up for a return instead. However, please be aware that since we are past the 30-day period for a refund, the return would be for store credit. If you wish to proceed with the RMA, please let me know if you would prefer to obtain replacements or return them for store credit.
I also wanted to note that we offer CR123A batteries in case you needed spares. The PID for that is 11576:

| | Works with Veralite | Pros: Paired easily with Vera. works as advertised.
Cons: had to turn down the sensitivity to insure loud cars with bass wouldn't set it off.
I am using it as a sensor on my door. If someone kicks down my door, I get a text, an email, and my z-wave siren goes off. This is exactly what I wanted at a fair price.
