| | Use it to extend your tripod height | Pros: Lots for the price
Cons: None for the price
This little unit was perfect for extending the height of my tripod. They don't mention this in the description but it comes with a 1/4 inch threaded base. So you can screw this onto a tripod. My tripod goes to 57 inches max and I use action cameras a lot which requires height. This unit makes it so my tripod can reach up to 75 inches now. It is study if tightened properly. Is it made out of rigid plastic? Well yes, but it doesn't matter. It's works!

| | Works good with my GoPro | Pros: Light weight, Stable mounting head (when dry), Collapses to a perfect pocket size
Cons: Not long enough at times, when in the water or cold the ball head moves around too easily
This collapsable little guy is pretty solid compared to other GoPro poles out there, especially for the price. I just wish there was one or two more sections of extension on it. Also I wish there was a way to tighten the ball head down when you get the camera in the position you want it. For the most part it stays where you want it, but if your hitting jumps with it snowboarding, jumping off cliffs with it, swimming, anywhere where it gets cold or wet etc then the head loosens up and the camera starts to flop around....

| | Good little Camera extender | Pros: Perfect for extending the reach of a compact camera that has a remote or timer.
Cons: None
Lightweight and portable extension that works well for it's intended use with a compact cam. It's not super heavy-duty for a heavier DSLR rig or large video cam and you shouldn't expect it to be at this price, but it does do it's job without a problem. It's ideal for use with a cam that has a remote phone app for seeing your shot.
Something that isn't mentioned in the description that should be added. This extender has a 1/4" threaded base in the handle. You can pair it with the Monoprice 10264 lightweight monopod, just screw this extender on top of it to add more reach, flexibility or stability, and both will JUST fit in the monopod's carry case. Combining them also adds the ball head of the extender to the fixed head monopod, and the use of the monopod's belt holster pouch.

| | am I missing something? | Pros: It's a fun conversation piece.
Cons: - no ability to hit the shutter button when the device is extended and your arm is raised
- virtually no way to know what image is on your view screen
What am I missing here? There seems to be no way to engage the shutter button when the camera is extended with arm raised. Even if you have a remote shutter button or can take a delayed photo, there is no way to see your view screen unless the small camera (up to 1.1 lbs.) has an articulated view screen, AND you have very good eyesight. This feels like a Hidden Camera gotcha. So, what am I missing?
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear that PID 10268 is not fitting your needs. The intent of this camera extender is for taking photographs or video from an aerial view along with the timer function of the camera or a remote. This comes in handy if needing to take a self portrait, large group photo, or taking a picture above obstructions such as a crowd at a concert. If I may ask, what were you needing to achieve exactly? We may have a different product that would work better for your setup. Thank you!

by dag Hello, Gabby,
I feel silly having purchased this item, as I should have known that it could not be useful for photographs to anyone without a remote timer, and even then you must be willing to be very unsure of the image being captured. That did not cross my mind until after I placed the order. A Notice to that effect would be useful on the page that depicts this item.
Granted, you can turn on the video recorder and point the extended item in the right direction, but (without great luck) the results would be most unsatisfying for me, unless the object did not move very far to the left or right. And, I almost never want to take video. I am more interested in individual shots that are well-composed, which I put on a website devoted to my beautiful neighborhood or use to create photobooks.
I am not tall, and often want a photo of someone or some event that is being obstructed by taller people, but my small camera, a FujiFinepix T500, does not have the ability to use remote shutter control. Neither does my Canon PowerShot SX 40, which is too heavy for the extender.
I do not think you could have a product to perform as I need, or if you did, it would be too expensive for the few times it would be truly needed. I purchased two because of the great price and free shipping, planning to give the second on to an even short friend, but I am sure she will also find it unsatisfactory, except perhaps for taking video of her children at school events or of a passing parade.
Thanks for your help. Please consider putting a reminder with the product page of the need for a remote.

| | Pretty nice extender | Pros: Light weight, study, well built, foam grip
Cons: Fully extended length is kind of short
It's a pretty nice camera extender. Nicely built, looks and feels pretty nice. The hinge is also solid. They only downside, like the others have mentioned, is that it is lacking a little in length when fully extended. Would be awesome if it was longer. Other than that, solid item.
