This Wall Plate Extender uses a new technology, which allows for a full bandwidth 10.2Gbps data throughput over a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable. The full 10.2Gbps bandwidth means that it supports all High Speed HDMI functions, including all HDMI 3D video modes, the extended 4K cinema resolution, 32-bit Deep Color, and high-definition compressed lossless audio, such as DTS-HD Master Audio™ and Dolby TrueHD™.
The extender features a built-in, bidirectional infrared (IR) signal extender, which allows you to remotely control devices at the source or destination end of the connection. For example, normal operation would allow control of the source blu-ray player from the remote TV location.
Additionally, the extender is capable of transmitting a full-duplex 100Mbps local area network connection alongside the HDMI and IR signals. Each wall plate has two RJ45 LAN jacks. As long as one of the four jacks is connected to the network, the other three will propagate the network connection. This allows you to wire another room for HDMI video, IR remote control repeating, and full internet access, using only a single Cat6 cable!
Note: While this extender will function using unshielded Cat5e cabling, we recommend the use of shielded Cat6 cabling for greater reliability over longer distances. Also note that any cable run through the walls must be rated for in-wall installations.

| | Unreliable |  Pros: Great solution for the short time they work
Cons: Unreliable. You will be looking for a replacement in a short matter of time. Hopefully within your warranty period
Had 6 of these installed on a new construction build. Have had nothing but problems since. I've been constantly replacing dead units since install and am now past my warranty period and 2 of the 6 have died again. When working, the IR repeater is either too weak or has some other issue because I eventually had to duct tape the IR directly onto the receiver to get it to respond. Even then one didn't respond and then the unit eventually died (no power). Its sort of a crap shoot wtih these and they are great when they work but even if they do work, they won't work for long

| | Item I purchased was suppose to be NEW, but was previously installed | Pros: Unit works perfectly. Receive amazing images to my home projector.
Cons: Cat 6 cable install in the side of the unit, not straight and direct on the back as it should.
You must cut away part of your mounting box to get the cable to come out the side.
Very poor design in the layout of this product
Will probably never buy from Monoprice again.
Purchased this Wall Plate extender for the completion of my Home Theater network.
Item came in the box with all of the packaging and instructions, but upon further investigation. I noticed many scratches around the mounting holes on both plates. I requested an exchange but I would have to send the old one back. I already have it installed and do not want to remove it from my system. Monoprice did NOTHING to help me

| | Perfect the first time | I wanted to hide my media equipment in a closet and run Cat6 to the bedroom to drive a TV mounted on the wall. Used the following products to do it:
Samsung cable box
Xbox 360
Chromecast
All feed into- PID 4088 - 4xHDMI switch - HDBaseT transmitter - 75 ft Cat6 STP 24 AWG (5906) - HDBaseT receiver - LG TV
Everything has worked exactly as expected the first time, which was nice given some of the reviews below about compatibility issues. My only complaint is that the IR blaster is PID 8059, which is a block with a diode rather than the stick-on type. That's OK for the normal usage (IR receiver with TV, blaster runs all the devices in a closet/cabinet), but it's bad for the reverse usage. In my situation, I have a Logitech Harmony Smart Control with the hub in the closet. I just need a single, small blaster to stick onto the TV sensor. I'm still looking for it.
While it still seems a bit pricey, it certainly did the job well and I'd purchase again.

| | Does Not Transmit HD signal | Cons: Expensive. Cat6 connection is on side.
Ordered three of these months ago to plan for my A/V setup in my NEW CONSTRUCTION home. Ran two (2) Cat6 cables and regular coax to each TV I was planning these extenders for...a total of three locations. Skipped running an HDMI cable because that's what these are meant to replace - BIG MISTAKE. First one of three died within 24 hours. No link is made and "mode" light is no longer on, meaning the device is inactive. Switched it out with a second of three kits I purchased and link was made...hooray! EXCEPT, as Diego pointed out below...no signal is transmitted...even DIRECTLY from my DVR to the extender receiver. Was going to try it through my receiver before writing this post, but then noticed Diego's review below...won't wasted my time. I, like him, am out of my return period because I just finished the build and purchased these months ago, only to find out they don't actually perform as advertised. Really bummed and disappointed.

To get a better understanding of your setup, can you describe your setup including all devices and cables in use? Have you tried switching out the cables to see if anything changes? I bought these things back in November for a media room remodel. Unfortunately, there were delays in my remodel and I was outside my return period by the time I installed these things. Because it's a new remodel, I installed new solid core 24g shielded Cat6 cable (so the cable is not a problem). The connection runs from an entertainment cabinet to an overhead projector. The total length of the in-wall cable is about 35 feet.
The first set arrived with a DOA receiver plate- it didn't power on. Monoprice was good about that part, and issued an RMA for the receiver. The new receiver unit powered on normally, and showed "Link" with the transmitter.
Here's where things get weird. If I connect my Playstation4 directly to the Transmitter, an HDCP link is made and the video projector displays normally. If I connect my playstation to one of the inputs of my AV receiver, and then connect my AV receiver "out" to the Transmitter wall plate, NO VIDEO is shown! This is because it's not receiving the HDCP "handshake". I'll explain more about that later.
I tried everything imaginable to fix it- different power cycling options, such as starting with my projector then powering up everything sequentially ending with the receiver. I even connected the units directly with a Cat6 patch cable, bypassing my in-wall wiring, just in case my wiring was bad. I read about "HDMI voltage injectors", and actually ordered one. I tried an HDMI splitter (didn't accomplish the task). In an act of pure desperation, I went out and Bought Two Different Receivers- one Denon x1100 and one Yamaha Aventage 2040- and Neither Unit Worked any better than my old Sony unit. I spent a long time chatting with Technical Service- the "short story" is that they told me that these units "are not designed to be used with a Receiver". They neglected to put this information in ANY of the literature of the device!! This shold be in BOLD FACE all over the product description: THIS UNIT IS NOT HDCP COMPLIANT, AND WILL NOT WORK WITH AN A/V RECEIVER. IT WILL ONLY WORK WITH A DIRECT SOURCE, - SUCH AS A DVR OR PLAYSTATION PLUGGED IN DIRECTLY TO THE HDMI PORT. There ya go, Monoprice, I've said it for you, and have probably saved you thousands of hours of technical support manpower for people like me. If you'd be so kind as to return the favor and take a return on these POS non-functional HDBaseT units, I'd really appreciate it.
Last night I went to my local electronics store, we'll call it "Fried Electonics" for the sake of not endorsing the competition, and purchased a set of HDBaseT Baluns for around 300$ (the units are capable of 4k and 3D too, FWIW). I removed the monoprice POS pseudo-HDBaseT units and plugged in the baluns. Immediately, I had a functioning full-definition video signal across EVERY DEVICE I TESTED. Every AV receiver I tested worked FLAWLESSLY with my projector (remember, I've got 3 of them now for testing purposes), and I actually watched a movie streaming from Netflix to my PS4 which was plugged into my old Sony AV Receiver. Not only did they work perfectly, but there was no delay in connection, no "handshake issues", no need to power cycle in some cryptic sequence, NO BS at all- just immediate gratification. This leaves ONE AND ONLY ONE conclusion that can be drawn: These HDBaseT receivers sold by Monoprice are pieces of garbage, and the way they are described is nothing short of false advertising, or at least misleading marketing.
That concludes my review of these things, but here's the technical breakdown of things I've learned over the past month of trying to get these things to work. This is my (lay-person) understanding of what I've learned, and hopefully it will help someone in a similar situation. Basically, Hollywood has mandated that all HDMI "stuff" transmit HDMI Copy Protection ("HDCP") information at a hardware level. To accomplish this task, each authorized device has a special "entryption key". When you connect two HDMI devices (like a Playstation to a TV), each HDMI unit must exchange "security keys" with the other in a verification process. This is referred to as a "handshake". This is done in an effort to prevent digital source material from being "copied" in the stream between the source and display. If the handshake fails, or if one of the units doesn't have HDCP compatibility, then NO video will be displayed or trasmitted across the connection. OK, simple enough, right? For a direct connection, it works as described, but if you have multiple devices "in-line", like a PS connected to an AV Receiver which is then connected to a display, things get a little more complicated. Each device has it's own security key that MUST be acounted for. Therefore, each "downstream" decive needs to "regenerate" the security key of the upstream device, as well as sending it's own security key. When devices say they are "HDCP Compliant", they are referring to this ability to propagate security keys and verify them from connected devices. These Monoprice units are NOT capable of "propagating" HDCP signals if there is anything more than ONE source plugged in. To put it another way, they don't send more than one set of HDCP keys. While Monoprice can "technically" say the units are HDCP compliant becuase they can trasnmit one set of keys, from a users point-of-view they are Certainly NOT HDCP Compliant. HDCP Compliant suggests that you can use the product with the rest of you HDCP Compliant equipment. As I said above, this is nothing short of False Advertising in my opinion, or "misleading statements" at best.
Monoprice, I'm 4 months out from my purchase. I'd really appreciate it if you'd do two things: 1) refund my money or accept a return outside the normal return policy conditions and 2) please STOP marketing these things the way you do. Get a review board to look at the verbiage on your ads, and in the product literature, and you'll see that there is NO mention ANYWHERE that these are "not designed to work with a receiver".

It is a possibility that there may have been an issue with the particular unit you received, unfortunately. I understand that you have already purchased a different HDBaseT extender, however we can try another replacement if you would like. I received a replacement pair of these units from Monoprice today (Thank You Gabby!). Unfortunately, they STILL DO NOT WORK, meanwhile the other units I purchased (which I still have) work flawlessly. I again tried power cycling in various combinations to get the "handshake" to work properly, all with no success. The problem is exactly as described above in my super-long review of the product. My product review stands as written.
On a positive note, I'd like to point out the Exceptional Customer Service that has been given to me. I received the replacement units much faster than I anticipated, and Tech Support Associate Gabby has been great. Although I cannot recommend these units, I will certainly keep shopping at Monoprice!
