17-Watt (90W Equivalent) Par 38 LED Bulb, 1120 Lumens, Cool/ Daylight (4500K) -Dimmable

Get a longer lasting, safe, and affordable alternative to standard PAR38 light bulbs using this 17-watt PAR38 LED Bulb from Monoprice!

This 120-volt bulb uses only 17-watts of power, but produces 1122 lumens of light energy at 4568K, equivalent to a 90-watt incandescent PAR-38 bulb. It uses the E26 "medium" Edison screw base, which is the standard home screw-in bulb type we're all used to. This indoor bulb uses the PAR38 "spot" form factor and is 4-3/4" in diameter and 5" tall. It has a beam angle of 45°.

The bulb features a shatter resistant polycarbonate lens, which is designed to withstand ordinary drops and falls, and a 100% aluminum heat sink. The bulb uses the superior Japanese-made Nichia diodes, is rated for up to 40,000 hours of use before failure, and carries a three year replacement warranty.

The bulb generates light in the 4568K range (Color Rendering Index 80), which is a bright, neutral light that produces neat and clean effect. This bulb is fully dimmable without risk of damage to the bulb or a reduction in its expected life span.

Monoprice warrants these bulbs for a full THREE (3) YEARS and will provide a new replacement for any bulbs that fail due to defects in materials or workmanship during the warranty period.

Pros: This is a great bulb with good color and coverage.

It takes about 500 ms for the bulb to turn on. It is just enough that there is a noticable delay after flipping the switch. I assume this is a byproduct of the hardware that makes the bulb dimmable, which if so, it is a worthwhile tradeoff.

The bulb is heavier than I expected. However, it is within a reasonable weight range, so if the extra weight translates into better durablility I will take it gladly.

Monoprice needs more 1500 lumen, 5000K, dimmable LED bulbs.

Put two of these in outdoor floodlight housing to illuminate covered patio. It is extremely bright and I no longer have trouble working into the wee hours of the night.

Pros: See Review

Cons: See Review

As much as I love the concept of LED light bulbs, I have a difficult time buying a ~$30 bulb to replace my $2 incandescent bulb when there is no warranty. If the bulb lasts 40,000 hours, at least offer a pro-rated warranty that lasts 10 years!

Thank you for your review and I do understand your frustration. I will forward this information to our product development team to see if we can have a different warranty on these light bulbs. Thank you!
