    270° 8-Watt (40W Equivalent) A 19 LED Bulb, 630 Lumens, Warm/ Soft (2900K) - Non-Dimmable (6-Pack)

Get a longer lasting, safe, and affordable alternative to incandescent or CFL light bulbs using this 6-Pack of 8-watt A19 LED Bulbs from Monoprice!

This LED bulb uses only 8 watts of power, but produces 630 lumens of light energy at 2900K, equivalent to a standard 40-watt incandescent bulb. It uses the E26 "medium" Edison screw base, which is the standard home screw-in bulb type we're all used to. This indoor bulb is 2.4" in diameter and 5.1" tall and has an 85 ~ 265 VAC operating range.

The bulb features a shatter resistant polycarbonate lens, which is designed to withstand ordinary drops and falls, and a 100% aluminum heat sink. It uses the superior Epistar diodes, is rated for approximately 25,000 hours of use before failure, and carries a three year replacement warranty.

The bulb generates light in the 2900K range (Color Rendering Index greater than 80) with an impressive beam angle of 270°, which generates the kind of soft and warm feeling that is perfect for most home lighting needs. This bulb is not designed to be dimmable. While it may be physically dimmed in some light fixtures, doing so can damage the bulb's internal circuitry and severely reduce its expected life span.

Each order includes six, individually packaged bulbs.

Monoprice warrants these bulbs for a full THREE (3) YEARS and will provide a new replacement for any bulbs that fail due to defects in materials or workmanship during the warranty period.

Pros: Warm color. Brighter than the old CFL's.

    Cons: none.

Wow! these are definitely brighter than the 13w CFL's they are replacing. Really like the softer yellow color these give. I would recommend these to replace your non-dimmable CFL's.

Beware of what fixtures you use these in

    Pros: Typical LED advantages

Cons: They still create a lot of heat which can cause premature failures when used in fixtures with low ventilation.

I recommend not using these in downward facing or enclosed fixtures where heat can accumulate near the base of the bulb. These bulbs create a lot of heat considering how much less wattage is used. I installed these is several places in my home and the ones in downward facing (think upside down cup) fixtures would begin to fail after only a few months at most, despite being used on a limited basis (bathroom lights). Others are still going strong where heat can escape up and away from the bulb.

    Pros: Longevity

We've just purchased our second batch of a dozen for our 18-unit apartment building. These are used for hallway lights that are on 24/7. The first batch has performed well over the last three months... no premature failures. These seem just as bright as the 13W CFL bulbs they're replacing. Noticeably cooler light than the previous 2700K bulbs. A slim majority of folks who have expressed an opinion report a preference for the whiter light.

    Pros: Bright
    Good spread

    Cons: Color still too cool
Bigger than the lights they replace

I just got these, so this review is for the light color. It's not quite as warm as I'd like, yet, but it's a close enough approximation of incandescent light that I'm quite happy. I look forward to monoprice standing by their three year warranty. Not sure what their durability is yet, but will update this review when that time comes.

Pros: Really bright light, nice soft white with a yellow tint
Seems as well built as brand name (e.g. Sylvania, GE)

    Cons: none yet

Monoprice is offering an relatively inexpensive route to ending incandescent lighting in the home. Looking forward to see if they expand their offering to include different bulb connectors( e,g, ceiling fans,)
