31.5-inch Collapsible Gold/ Silver Light Reflector Disc

Improve the quality of your photography by using this 31.5-inch Collapsible Gold/Silver Light Reflector Disc from Monoprice!

A light reflector is one the most effective, and least expensive, pieces of gear you can add to your photo kit. Reflectors allow you to subtly adjust the lighting on your subject, adding or removing shadows, adding or removing color or tone, or just diffusing strong sunlight or lamps.

This reflector features two different surfaces, which provide different benefits in different circumstances:

    • Silver: The silver side of the reflector provides a strong light reflection, making it well-suited to use in low-light situations or to provide a lighting enhancement when the reflector must be positioned further from the subject than ordinary.

    • Gold: The gold side of the reflector provides a strong, warm light most suitable for eliminating shadows in "warm light" conditions, such as at sunset or when the subject has a strong "autumn" coloration.

The reflector is made with a durable steel frame, which can be collapsed down to about 1/3 its full size. The reflector comes in a zippered nylon carry/storage pouch measuring about 12.5" in diameter.

Pros: Solid Construction, Good reflectivity, lightweight, inexpensive.

    Cons: Learning Curve

I bought two of these units when they were on sale. After Getting them, I popped one out, and then realized that I was unable to twist it just right get it back into it's case. After some trial and error I figured it out, but let me tell you that it took a while. Still after, I hate to admit it, over an hour of me brutally twisting and turning and turning and twisting, the unit stayed just like new.

I took these units to shoot a film for Frederick Maryland's 72 Hour Film Fest. long hard hours of filming, few breaks, and one of the hottest days of the year. These performed great, and I'm glad I picked up 2 when I did. For the price, if you are looking to save money, you have come to the right place.
