Built to last and sound great, the B♭ Clarinet from Monoprice makes learning the Clarinet fun! The felt pads do not require as much pressure to play properly.
Why buy your band instruments from Monoprice?
Many school band directors reflexively dismiss band instruments made in China, preferring to point parents to the entry-level instruments from the major brands. This ignores the fact that the entry-level instruments from the major brands are also made in China!
The country of origin therefore is NOT an indicator of the quality of an instrument and whether it will sound and play properly. One of the best indicators of an instrument's quality however, is how well the company stands behind their instruments.
Monoprice stands behind EVERY product we sell with a 30-day money back guarantee. If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, return it within 30 days for a full refund.
Additionally we stand behind every instrument we sell with a 1 year warranty. If the performance of the instrument changes over time, if you notice a problem that you didn't notice before, if it breaks from normal use, simply return it and receive a new replacement in exchange.
So do not be dissuaded by naysayers, who admittedly have not tried Monoprice Pro Audio products! You can purchase with total confidence that your investment will not be wasted and that the investment will be considerably less than if the instrument wears a major name brand logo.

Pros: Excellent price for a marching clarinet that will be used in the heat and rain.
Cons: Quality control needs improvement. One of the pads wasn't even on one of the keys which wouldn't allow it to play. I had to pay $10 to have a pad installed.
Clarinet is a good product for the price, but the quality control needs to be improved to ensure that all parts are installed on the clarinets before shipping. One of the pads was missing therefore causing us to take the clarinet to a repair shop the day we got it. Could send it back due to the fact that marching band camp started in two days.
It is a fine student clarinet

Pros: It sounded fine to my beginner ear. The keys don't feel much different from another student clarinet I have now. It only cost same money to rent a student one.
Cons: the thumb rest hurts. Compare to another one, the thumb rest is curved and padded. This one is flat even with sharp edges.
I like the clarinet but not the thumb rest. I may wanna keep it and fix the thumb rest myself.

Pros: good build quality
great for a beginner player
good for a backup clarinet
Cons: ok but not great sound quality
Tried out this clarinet and found it surprisingly good. The caveat is that the clarinet is a good fit for a beginner clarinet player. Anyone with more experience will use this as a backup at best.

Cons: A bit flat
Reed isn't best quality
So my 10 year old son joined the school band and wanted to play the clarinet, so my wife handed him her semi-professional model from her marching band days. While my son did his best, we found the expensive clarinet was getting a bit beat up. Rentals are also destroyed and too pricy in my opinion. That's were this little beauty comes in. It's very inexpensive and nice quality for the cost. It is perfect for the beginner and a good way to introduce anyone into the clarinet. The finish is matte black, so my son really likes the way it looks. It also comes with a nice carrying case that is big enough for a music book and some extra reeds. Speaking of reeds, it comes with a house brand 2.5 reed. For a beginner, i'd use a 2 and I would buy the national brand instead. The clarinet is a bit flat, but for the price it is just perfect.
