Speakon connector used with these cables is incompatible with neutrik jacks

Pros: heavy-duty (12awg) cables.
high-quality feel
solid construction

Cons: connectors are sometimes incompatible with Neutrik NL4MPR chassis-mounted connector

First, and foremost, a third-party product that purports to adhere to the specifications of a particular technology must adhere to those specifications, or it is useless. It would appear that the Speakon technology connectors used in these cables may be a little out-of-spec.

These connectors, while nice looking, are hit-or-miss when it comes to properly connecting to a Neutrik NL4MPR chassis-mounted connector. On many of these connectors, the locking mechanism won't click into place. Fortunately, I was able to swap ends, and, eventually, get the cables to work in my setup, so I didn't have to order something different.

When comparing this connector to both the Monoprice connector (601510), and Neutrik's own connector, it appears that there is a varying gap between the locking tab, and the barrel of the connector. There is no gap on either the Monoprice or Neutrik connector... And, I called it a 'varying gap' because, as implied, some of the connectors locked fine, but some of them didn't, and had to be swapped end-for-end, to try the other connector.

An interesting data point for this discussion is that the connectors on these cables always connect properly to the Amphenol product SP-2-MD. On all my DIY loudspeakers, I used the Neutrik NL4MPR connector, and on the other end (at the wall, or junction box), I used the Amphenol SP-2-MD This connector is analogous to Neutrik's NL2MP connector. I don't quite understand that discrepancy.

Anway, I would give these cables a 10, but for the problems that I described. I'm giving it a 5, so that, maybe, this review will be noticed, and Monoprice can get something done about it with their supplier.

Pros: - Inexpensive
- Sturdy
- Works well

Cons: - None discernable

- I use this to connect my bass head to my bass speakers. I have been using them for a few months and they work well. Much better price for what you can get at guitar center / sweetwater.

Good cables at a great price

Pros: Affordable

Cons: Maybe not Heavy Duty

I was very happy to get speakon cables in this short length (3'). The distance from my amp to the cabinet does not warrant anything longer. These cables sound as good as the longer cables they replaced.
My only concern is that the connectors are not quite as thick and solid feeling as some of the higher-end cables. I think if I were gigging nightly and had to setup/tear down every night, I'd spend the extra money on the PJB cables. But since I can buy 25 of these cables for the price of 1 PJB, I'll be sticking with MonoPrice.

Pros: Ease of ordering and fast shipping. Product in stock

Cons: Product not pro grade

Actual product is not pro grade. Connector is supposed to be locking type and it does not lock properly which can present an electrical hazard. Suggest using a higher grade connector.

Works fine but connectors are cheap.

Pros: Cheap!
Works fine.

Cons: Ends are very cheap and you have to make sure they lock in. They don't immediately click in like real Neutrik plugs.

I needed a few cheap 3 foot cables so I bought these. If I knew - or paid attention - I would have paid extra for a cable with Neutrik connectors. But these are getting the job done as long as I make sure the ends click in when connecting.
