Premier Series 1/4-inch TRS Guitar Pedal Patch Cable with Right Angle Connectors, 8-inch

Connect sound components and other audio equipment with this Premium 1/4" TRS Patch Cable with 90-degree connectors from Monoprice!

This cable features 90-degree TRS/Stereo plugs on each end. It uses 16 AWG stranded, pure copper conductors and employs copper braid shielding with 97.5% coverage to ensure that stray radio frequency and electromagnetic signals do not degrade the audio quality of your performance. The plugs are gold plated to provide smooth, corrosion-free connections as well as maximum electrical conductivity.

With two separate conductors and the common shield ground, this cable can be used as an unbalanced stereo patch cable or as a balanced mono patch cable.

Note that this cable is intended for general audio use. For high-end, low-noise performance and recording use we recommend our Cloth Series cables, PIDs 601410, 601415, and 601420.

    TRS vs TS

Pros: Gold plated plugs will not oxidize and is a good option for patch cables that will be left in place in permanent installations TRS plugs and dual-conductor wiring allows them to be used as patch cables for balanced signals on a mixer as well as for unbalanced signals on a pedalboard.

Cons: There may be some situations (stereo pedals for instance if you're only using the mono output) where the TRS feature would not be appropriate. As for the gold plating, if you are plugging and unplugging the patch cable a lot it will wear through and you're in the same situation as if you had plain nickel plating (which is what's underneath the gold).

Ordinarily, a guitar pedal patch cable is the same as a short guitar cord, with TS (tip-sleeve) plugs for a mono or un-balanced signal. These cables have TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) tips and an extra conductor which allows them to be used for stereo or for balanced signals. I expected a problem with battery-powered loose pedals (ordinarily you need a TS plug to short out a stereo jack and complete the battery circuit) but these TRS cables seem to work fine with pedals whether they are loose and powered by batteries or assembled on a pedalboard with a separate power supply plugged into the 9V adaptors.

Pros: Cheap, work great, nice quality

    Cons: None

I wired up a whole pedal board using these (the TRS was actually slightly cheaper than TS...go figure)...8 cords in total. No bad ones out of the batch. I personally could not have bought 2 right angle plugs and wire for their cost...so this is a no brainer, mega time saver.

Pros: Strong Cable, Secure and holds strong to pedals, Incredible price. Well put together.

    Cons: None.

It would be nice on the website if this item said directly Stereo or Mono Cable. Some buyers might not realize what "TRS" (stereo) or "TS" (mono) means.
