    Great budge light

Pros: Budget friendly, Good color, Reliable

Cons: Legs too short for ground use with cables.

For any small church or venue who is looking to get into LED lighting, this is probably the best option you can find. The light isn't the brightest but the colors are great. The biggest issue I had, as some reviews have mentioned, is that the legs are too short. I have the lights on the floor shining up on a wall and I have cables that keep getting messed up because the legs are not long enough to allow the cables to fit without being in a bind. I have had to reterminate the ends twice now in less than a year. I even bought 90 degree ends but there isn't even enough room for them. Its not an issue, however, if you hang the lights.

I ended up making new legs from 3/4" strips of aluminum from Lowe's and painted them black to match. They have 8' strips for $11 and I used two of them. The trick is to measure out the length you want (I went an inch longer than the stock legs), mark where you want the bend to be and then measure 1/4" back on the inside of your marks to account for the thickness of the aluminum and the space the bend takes. Then I put it in a vice and made my bends. If you don't measure back 1/4" then the legs end up being too wide and the legs are not as long as planned. I would recommend buying a shorter piece of the aluminum strips to practice with before trying to make your final piece. Unless, of course, you are a metal working guru...then just ignore my novice work. )

Hopefully Monoprice will end up making longer legs because it is an issue. Either way, this is a good product for the price and worth the inconvenience of the legs.

    Great product

Pros: Great light, easy to program and control with the DMX-512 controller

We ordered 8 of these lights for our Vacation Bible School presentation this year. What a difference they made to the scenes that we presented. The children enjoyed the colorful set (Cave Quest) that would have remained a blackish-gray color without these lights. Easy to hook up and our leaders liked the fact that the did not generate heat as it was warm enough in the building already.

    Great until they break...

    Pros: Nice, strong light
Good color mix optics (no single-color hotspots when using blended colors).

Cons: LIke many Monoprice electronics we have used, flaky and prone to failure (the LED panel went out about when the warranty expired).

We ordered four of these lights for use around our church campus for special events. Normally they work very well and put out a pretty good amount of lumens for the size. Terrific for our uses. We actually only used them for three or four events over the course of a year or so, meaning they didn't get much use (and we don't bang our equipment around, either, so abuse is not an issue).
But here's the problem: Of the four units, the display on the back of the unit went completely dark (broke) so you can't program it, or even set the DMX channel and mode for light board use. This has been a trend for us with Monoprice electronics. The TV mounts are great, most cables too, but often the electronics either start getting flaky (work internittently) or fail totally about 12-18 months in. This experience is based on hundreds of dollars spent at MP over the last several years, with all kinds of product. No sour grapes, just fact.

Pretty Happy with them so far

Pros: Very bright, good color, solid construction for the money, and very quick to get added into my show.

Cons: the 25/45 is a little misleading. Supposedly 25 degree hot spot is probably closer to 30, and the 45 degree field is probably closer to 50 if not more. Barn doors would be extremely helpful for my application as I can't cross light from the opposite side of the stage with the wide field. It seems that making a barn door option that could mount on the gel mounts would be perfect. I will probably be engineering my own that will do that very thing. I don't understand what you would use a gel for on RGBW pars, so I was hoping that barn doors were an optional accessory.

We ordered 1 as a test, and will be ordering 3 more, We would have ordered 7 more but as some reviews have noted, they have a very wide angle, and no barn doors as an add on. I run a show for a 5 piece band that has been using much smaller 4 3 watt LEDs for each RGB color par cans to light individual members, and this is a major improvement over those, More light at 50% of the intensity channel than the previous units. Will update once I figure out a barn door solution.

Great lights but they don't last forever

Pros: Bright, cheap, good spread, multiple colours on a single LED allow for minimal ghosting of colours.

Cons: The fan doesn't turn off unless it's unplugged. (We have the lights setup along the top of our stage at church but the fan runs 24/7. So we had to create an arduino box that cuts the power to the units after the DMX signal disappears (Luckily we have an electrical engineer that could design this for us.) For most people you'd need a power bar and turn the lights on an off manually.

Another issue is the durability of these lights. There seems to be an issue with the red LED driver. We have a setup of 8 of these lights, 4 of them have now failed. First 2 were within warranty, but the second 2 weren't. So we had to order 2 more. I'm ok with some failure on a cheap light like this, especially because we use them frequently, but on 3 of the 4 failures it's been the red LEDs that cut out, or flicker. So if it's always the same problem, then something is wrong with the design.

Great little lights. Amazing price for the amount of light it puts out. (See my other reviews with videos and photos of the lights in action) The options are great, we control them via DMX and love the setup.

However, in the past 2 years we have had 4 of these fixtures break (We have a setup of 8 fixtures) 3 of which were the red LEDs that start flickering and then stop working all together. Seems to me like there's a design flaw that needs to be addressed.

We are still buying them because even if they break, the brightness of these lights at this price is unheard of and right now we can't afford to buy 'brand name'.
