1000-watt, 12-channel Powered Audio Mixer with DSP

Mix your performance or recording and power a pair of large speakers using this 1000-watt, 12-channel Powered Audio Mixer with DSP from Monoprice!

This professional level mixer is ideal for public performances or for home studio recording. It features four mono microphone inputs with balanced XLR and 1/4" connectors, switchable phantom power, and send/return inserts. Channels 5/6 and 7/8 are ganged into stereo pairs with unbalanced stereo XLR and 1/4" inputs. Channels 9/10 and 11/12 are also ganged into stereo pairs, but with unbalanced stereo 1/4" and RCA inputs. The outputs include two balanced XLR outputs for the main mix and two NL4 speaker twist connectors for the speaker output.

The mixer features a built in 500-watt/channel (RMS) into 4 ohms amplifier, which can be used to drive large speakers, such as the 500-watt, 15-inch Passive PA Speaker (PID 604470). It can be powered from nominal 100, 110, and 220 VAC sources, so is suitable for use anywhere whereever your travels take you (note that the fuse should be changed when switching input voltage levels).

There are 100 digital effects that can be applied to your mix. The effect include 10 options for each of 10 different types. The types include Echo, Echo + Verb, Tremolo, Plate, Chorus, Vocal, Rotary, Small Room, Flange + Verb, and Large Hall.

Pros: Power! Sound quality is great combined with the PA speakers sold from Monoprice.

Cons: Instructions are vague. There should be common scenarios of different setups to instruct how to properly get everything connected and working.

Just as a note, I am a complete newbie to mixers and sound setups. What seemed like something that would be pretty straightforward was actually more complicated than I thought.

With that out of the way, I was originally somewhat disappointed that I was not able to use this mixer as I had imagined I would be able to, but I have since realized that it does not matter. When I had purchased the powered mixer, I really wanted the ability to control the highs, mids, and lows of the audio, but there was no way (at least that I am aware of) that I could connect my iPad 2 to one of the channels that included this ability. As suggested by one of the very helpful Monoprice representatives, I am using a 30 pin connector from my iPad, going to the Stereo Returns port on the mixer. This produces much better audio quality than using the headphone out port on the iPad. When connected this way, I have the main volume, and the Stereo Returns to Main knob that I deal with, and that is it.

The audio produced from this simple connection does not need the bass, treble, and mids to be adjusted, because the sound is perfect as it is! The bass is deep, the trebles are high, and the mids are clear. All I need to worry about is cranking it up, and it does well to produce volume loud enough to fill a room that houses a few to several hundred people with just one speaker. (I am planning on getting a 2nd speaker in the future, but for now all I need is one.)

The bottom line is that I am very happy with this purchase.
