Small-Diaphragm Condenser Microphones (Pair)

When you need to record or otherwise amplify acoustic based instruments, you need high-quality, transparent microphones that will accurately reproduce every note, tone, and nuance of your performance. What you need is this pair of Small-Diaphragm Condenser Microphones from Monoprice!

These microphones come as a pair, so that you can stereo mic a drum kit or mic an acoustic duet. They feature a 6-micron gold-sputtered diaphragm with a cardiod polar pattern. They require +48V Phantom Power to operate and connect to your mixer using a gold-plated XLR plug.

Included with the pair of microphones is a pair of mic clips and a pair of windscreens. The microphones come in a storage box with cutouts in the foam for each item included, as well as four cutouts for additional transducer capsules (additional capsules available separately).

Note that the transducer capsules on these micropphones employ a Cardioid polar pattern. We offer replacement capsules that employ Omnidirectional (PID 600701) and Hypercardioid (PIC 600702) polar patterns, allowing these microphones to be used in a wide variety of applications.

Pros: Bought these on sale and for the price they are amazing, included windscreens were an added plus as I use these for outdoor PA.

Cons: Feel a little flimsy but I wasn't expecting KM-84's at this price.

Used these for the first time yesterday for drum overheads at an outdoor concert with 4 different bands and the hypercardioid capsules and was extremely impressed with the results! With 20 minute set changes there is no time to fool with individual tom mics and tweaking EQ and these mics did an outstanding job of capturing the wide variation of drumming styles and kits with the addition of just a kick and snare mic. Impressive low end response for a small diaphragm and extremely sensitive but I was able to get plenty of gain with no feedback problems, although I have to say I was using some nice AT shockmounts which probably helped with low end issues. I am looking forward to using these in the studio with the cardioid capsules and seeing how they compare to the high end KM-84's and C451's I am familiar with.

Pros: Small, light weight, capable.

Cons: Threads, housing construction.

I have not yet put these microphones through heavy use, but the testing I have done in the studio produced good results. They can be quite sensitive, and the omni capsule allows excellent M/S recording.

Great quality and value for voice recording

Pros: Great sound for speech. Decent foam packaging. Includes holders for mic stands - nice touch.

Cons: Rough threads on the capsules, feel light and cheap, ugly gold accent keep the windscreen on.

I use these mainly for recording voiceovers for training videos with a MicPortPro. The sound quality is excellent and the price is right. I previously used Oktavas for my field speech recording research and these mics are just as good for what I do, but lighter for travel. I hate changing the capsules because of the threads are so rough. Overall very pleased with this purchase.

Pros: -Price!
-Crystal clear

Cons: -Would love to have a case instead of a cardboard box.

I have used these microphones to record both close-field voice for video, acoustic stringed instruments, piano, and a large choir. Each time, these microphones have not failed to amaze. I do own several other brands of this style mic, and I can't imagine spending more money for the same (or sometimes even worse) sound.

I am currently running these microphones through a FocusRite preamp, and when I compare waveforms of the same recording with this microphone, and one that costs hundreds more, there is no discernible difference in quality.

Pros: Clean usable sound

Cons: None so far

I currently use them for doing some studio recording for an Italian radio program in Toronto and a YouTube channel. This audio in the video hasn't been adjusted much just scrubbed for a little noise.
