Plays Great Out of the Box!

    Pros: Plays great
    No adjustments needed
    Nice tone
    Good finish

Cons: Maaaybe a few small blemishes, but nothing abundantly obvious

I'm definitely a beginner...a really, really, REALLY green beginner, but this is the first acoustic, and third overall guitar that I own now, and this one has played the best out of the box by far. I also own the Monoprice Strat, and after having new strings put on, and a few small tweaks, I love that thing too, but yet another wonderful Monoprice guitar experience. Does it sound and look as nice as a guitar 30x the price? I suspect the answer is no, but since I don't know the difference, and don't plan on spending thousands on a guitar anytime soon, I couldn't be happier!

Best Guitar and Setup You Can Buy for the Money

Pros: Setup, Inspection prior to shipping, Sound

    Cons: Needs a pickguard

I just bought one of these guitars for my grandson on his 13th birthday. It arrived on time. It arrived in excellent shape and it sounds awesome. Although it does not show it, the guitar he received had a strap button at the base of the neck and a nice M at the top of the neck (instead of the Monoprice pictured, nice touch). The only thing I can think of to make it better would be a pick guard since I am certain my grandson will mark up the top as he plays more. I actually intend to buy one of these for myself so he can come and play at my home without bringing his guitar. Chances are real good other grandchildren will be getting these for gifts in the near future.

Thanks Monoprice for selling another great product and making certain it is in first class shape before sending it out. The person receiving this one was real important to me!

    Not Pleased but has Potential

Pros: Beautiful guitar, appears to be very well made for the price

Cons: Not setup, tuned or inspected as promised. String nut filed too low and needs replaced. Uneven frets. Never replied to email

I have purchased many items from monoprice in the past and always have been happy with the products. This is the first time buying a musical instrument. I went to monoprice to buy another unrelated item and noticed that they carry guitars and figured I'd pull the trigger with the help of all the positive reviews and with the promise of a full setup, tune and inspection. What I received was a beautiful but completely untuned unplayable guitar. The problem(s) being the string nut was filed way too low and uneven frets. Looking at all the other positive reviews it seems I received a lemon that someone didn't inspect properly. I emailed monoprice to try and remedy the situation but never received a reply : (

    A bad apple

    Pros: A beautiful guitar

    Cons: Poor fretboard

Sometimes there is a bad apple in a barrel. This was it. I have purchased guitars from Monoprice before and I was well pleased with them. However, this one slipped through
Without a proper set up. There were several high frets on the fingerboard that made it

Pros: Beautiful looking and sounding guitar. Basic structure is excellent. The best acoustic guitar available for the price. Setup is better than any other cheap guitar.

Cons: Gig bag makes crinkly paper sound when moved. Needs good setup to be at its best.

This guitar plays well right out of the box. Although it went on sale at 20% off before I received the guitar, Monoprice wouldn't price match. The finish is very good. Any imperfections (VERY minor) were easily fixed with a fingernail, making the finish flawless. When changing the strings, I realized that the nut was not glued in and the saddle was loose in the bridge and leaning towards the headstock, with a badly fitting shim underneath. Two drops of superglue on the nut, which keeps the nut easily removable, a Tusq saddle, Graphtech part PQ-9276-C0 for less that $10 and a set of D'Addario EJ16 strings made a good sounding guitar sound amazing. I added a strap button on the bottom side of the heel of the neck. There are plenty of instructions on setup and fitting the saddle online. I recommend doing it yourself using a few simple tools that you can get from Monoprice or on EBay, because you will become more familiar with your guitar that way. Once you do this, stop looking and start practicing, because you won't come close to the sound of this guitar with anything near its price. Order the strap with the guitar, Monoprice 611300 or check the Monoprice site for a different color, the tuner 611210, the capo 611050 and picks 611000. All quality things that you will need that you won't find anywhere else for the price.
