Retro Vision Solid Body Electric Guitar - Sunburst

With the versatility to play classic country, rock, blues, and jazz tones, you can make this Retro Vision Solid Body Electric Guitar the workhorse of your collection!

This full-sized, 22-fret, single cutaway electric guitar features two single-coil pickups and is capable of producing a wide range of tones. With the bridge pickup, you can get that bright, rich, cutting tone known as the country "twang" made famous by artists such as Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings. With the neck pickup you get a warmer, mellow, bluesy tone, such as that of Albert Collins or Muddy Waters. Additionally, rock musicians as diverse as Syd Barrett, Chrissy Hynde, and Keith Richards have found a way to make their own distinctive sound using this style of guitar.

The guitar is constructed with a basswood body, bolt-on maple neck, and rosewood fretboard. It features locking tuners and is strung using Monoprice's coated-steel strings (light, 0.010"). The chrome volume and tone knobs are accompanied by a three-position switch, which lets you select the neck or bridge pickup, or both.

Before it gets shipped to you, each Monoprice guitar undergoes a setup, tuning, and inspection process by Master Luthier Roger Gresco here in Southern California. The setup ensures that the neck is straight, the action is right, and that it will stay in tune. Additionally, it comes with everything you need to get started, including strings (installed), a heavy-duty zippered black gig bag with shoulder strap, and a truss-rod wrench.

Pros: Awesome color, sound and feel. Almost in tune right out of the box.

    Cons: None

This is my 5th guitar from monoprice. They all are an excellent value. Great action and sound. Had to send this one back because of a bent tone knob. Unfortunately it was back ordered. But as soon as it came in, they sent it to me. Great customer service.

Nice looking guitar, but not the best playing guitar

    Pros: Great looking guitar
    Nice sunburst
    Updated "M" logo

    Cons: Sharp frets
    Lack of bass response
Not the best looking rosewood on the fingerboard

I am thoroughly impressed with the sunburst on this guitar. The "M" logo is also a nice improvement over the original design. The controls are smooth and quiet. I am amazed Monoprice is able to sell these at this price-point. What I don't like about the guitar is the fretboard. The frets are sharp and have cut up my fingers on more than one occasion. I find it hard to believe that this guitar was inspected for play-ability because this one should not have passed. I was going to buy the Strat type guitar, but after slicing up my fingers, I'm more reluctant. Also, there seems to be a lack of bass in the guitar. When I hammer on the bass strings, I can barely even hear the notes I'm playing. I can foresee replacing the pickups, after getting the frets fixed.

Pros: Beautiful color, not heavy, sounds really good. If I get a bonus this year, I will probably buy another one!

    Cons: None

Arrived in great condition. Well packaged and protected from cold weather and damage. 3 strings needed tuning, the other 3 were almost spot on!

    Killer Tele for the price

    Pros: Price

I purchased this guitar for a collegiate music school that always has a need for more instruments. It has been living in one of the rehearsal rooms at the school and subjected to countless classes, rehearsals, and jam sessions and it's held up very well. When the guitar came I unboxed it and ran it through it's paces. I was very impressed and how well it played and sounded. It definitely nails the tele sound. I would never use the gig bag that comes with it, but at this price, just the fact that it comes with a bag to carry it in is pretty awesome. Overall it's a great deal. On a side note: I am happy that monoprice has started to use the single "M" logo on its guitars now, because I'm not a fan of the full "Monoprice Pro Audio Series" logo on the headstock - it kills the mojo for sure. So, more use of the single "M" logo!

    Pros: Everything

    Cons: Nothing

First off, let me say they changed the logo to a grey square with rounded corners and a white M in the middle. MUCH IMPROVED! I like it! I was looking at getting the Squier Affinity Telecaster. But the reviews weren't so good on it. I started looking at this monoprice version because it has such good reviews. I must have read almost every review on here. I decided to purchase it. Oh man, I'm so glad I did! This guitar is amazing through and through. Especially for $100. The paint job is beautiful and flawless. I couldn't find anything wrong with it. The joints on the guitar are all tight, almost seamless. The pickups sound great. I was going to replace them, but after playing it for over and hour after getting it, I'm not changing a thing. I love the sound. The fret board has great action. I found myself thinking I was playing a $400+ guitar. I have a Epiphone Les Paul Special II that I bought for a project guitar ($169) and ended up replacing the pickups, tuners and switch. Plus the paint job is subpar with many flaws on the back of the guitar. Compare it to the monoprice telecaster and monoprice wins hands down all day long. This is just as nice as $300-$400 guitar. It also comes with a gig bag, not the best one, but hey, for $100 you can't beat what you get. If you are thinking about getting one and just can't decide. Just get it!!!!

update: I just played a gig with it and everyone was impressed with the look and sound. All asking what kind of guitar it was. When I told them on got it on monoprice for $100 they couldn't believe it. Got to play through a huge Orange cabinet and the Retro Vision sounded damn amazing!
