"Retro Vision" Solid Body Electric Guitar - Sunburst
With the versatility to play classic country, rock, blues, and jazz tones, you can make this Retro Vision Solid Body Electric Guitar the workhorse of your collection!
This full-sized, 22-fret, single cutaway electric guitar features two single-coil pickups and is capable of producing a wide range of tones. With the bridge pickup, you can get that bright, rich, cutting tone known as the country "twang" made famous by artists such as Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings. With the neck pickup you get a warmer, mellow, bluesy tone, such as that of Albert Collins or Muddy Waters. Additionally, rock musicians as diverse as Syd Barrett, Chrissy Hynde, and Keith Richards have found a way to make their own distinctive sound using this style of guitar.
The guitar is constructed with a basswood body, bolt-on maple neck, and rosewood fretboard. It features locking tuners and is strung using Monoprice's coated-steel strings (light, 0.010"). The chrome volume and tone knobs are accompanied by a three-position switch, which lets you select the neck or bridge pickup, or both.
Before it gets shipped to you, each Monoprice guitar undergoes a setup, tuning, and inspection process by Master Luthier Roger Gresco here in Southern California. The setup ensures that the neck is straight, the action is right, and that it will stay in tune. Additionally, it comes with everything you need to get started, including strings (installed), a heavy-duty zippered black gig bag with shoulder strap, and a truss-rod wrench.
Pros: Good quality control and a well built guitar and good set up from Monoprice
Cons: The pickups could be a bit better, but for the price you can't really complain it's all about keeping the price down.
After reading all the reviews and watching Monoprice guitars at NAMM and some YouTube demo’s I thought I would take the chance and buy one of these $132.00 guitars from Monoprice. I picked the sunburst retro vision tele, bass wood body, a satin finish maple neck, and locking tuners, and it came with a gig bag. I ordered it from California on Monday and it was delivered Tuesday, fast or what and I'm up in Canada. The guitar is amazing quality and not a blemish on it the guitar was set up at the factory before they shipped it, so all I had to do was tune it. Just finished two hours of testing it out and the sound and sustain is just great for such a cheap guitar, it has that tele country twang on the bridge pick-up and some nice warm tones in the middle and on the neck pick-up. Put the amp on over drive and the guitar just screams, I am beyond happy with this purchase, and if it does start to screw up down the line, I could always have it rewired with fender pick-ups but for now a cheap guitar to play and not worry about it getting the odd nick here or there. Indonesia is making some good guitars these days and quality is far better than it was twenty years ago, and you gotta have some cheap guitars in the collection.

Nice Guitar - Well Worth the Low Price
Pros: Excellent fit and finish. Setup out of the box is fine. Neck and frets are smooth. Stays in tune very well. Well balanced and comfortable to wear and play. Volume and Tone and selector switch controls are smooth and work well. Pickups sound OK to me. I am playing through a big Fender acoustic amp so the "electric" sound is a bit subdued.
Cons: The Monoprice label on the head stock on this and the other fine Monoprice guitars that I own looks very cheezy. Monoprice should come up with a unique, stylized, cool-looking logo befitting a music instrument. The current headstock logo is just way too "corporate". The included gig bag is good for keeping the dust off but won't provide much protection otherwise.
I already had the Strat and Les Paul Monoprice guitars before I added this one to my collection. I am very happy with the fit and finish and playability of this blond Tele version, and I find myself picking this one up to play more frequently than the others. Out of the box, the setup on this one was better. Just had to tune it up and start playing. I can't say the same for the other two Monoprice guitars that I have. They both required some additional adjustments to eliminate string buzzing and intonation. I would like to see Monoprice include some basic setup instructions with their guitars.
Other reviewers have complained about the blond color of this one not matching the picture. The guitar I received is a slight bit more yellow but is actually better looking than the one in the picture. The color on mine is solid with no visible thin spots or failed attempts at a sunburst pattern. Overall I am pleased with this guitar and I do not plan to change anything about it except for the strings when it is time.
Other Thoughts on Monoprice Guitars:
Bang for the buck with Monoprice guitars is amazing and I will likely buy others when they come out. I have been patiently waiting for the hollow body electric guitar to become available. For over a year on the site it was listed as "coming soon". Now it is not listed at all. I hope that does not mean the hollow body guitar will never come.
I have been thinking about trying the Monoprice acoustic-electric guitar that is available now, From the pictures the finish looks good, but the equalizer that it comes with is one of the cheapest out there and does not even include an on-board tuner. I will wait to read reviews before pulling the trigger on that one.

Pros: Awesome finish arrived in great shape.
Cons: None for now.
As a rank beginner, I can't compare this guitar with any others, but I can say that it arrived promptly and appears to be a great value for the money. It was set up pretty well, and looks-wise, it's awesome great finish and seems to finger easily. Paired it with a used Roland Cube 15 amp that I got for $30, and it sounds awesome.

Monoprice does it again!
Pros: great action, solid feel, good tone, ascetically pleasing.
Cons: white pick guard does not go well with the sunburst, a "sandpaper-y" feel when bending.
Overall, this is an incredible guitar. Right out of the box, it was almost perfectly set up. It has a great sound/tone and is versatile and clear. The single coil pickups are pretty standard as far as lower end guitars go, but it can be easily changed, however, they are very passable (and passive :) to play live and I doubt I'll change them anytime soon. The action is really amazing, better then many fenders I've played and significantly easier to play then my Monoprice Route 66 Modern I bought last summer. It's really fun to play and I love the way it looks. The only change I made was that I spray painted to pick guard jet black- Personally, I think it looks better this way. For the price, it is a serious steal. Get one if you can!
This is just a great Telecaster-style guitar. I'd played mostly acoustic for years, but when I heard that Monoprice was selling well-built electrics cheap, I thought I'd give this one a try. This guitar looks great, plays nice and smooth, and sounds really good. When I replaced the strings that it came with, it sounded even better (in particular the higher strings when using the bridge pickup).
Listen, nobody's going to buy this instead of a shiny new Telecaster, but for those of us who want a great-sounding guitar that costs less than a car, this is the one to get.
