"California Classic" Left-Handed Solid Body Electric Guitar - Sunburst
If you are left-handed and want to play guitar, you can do like Jimi Hendrix did, taking a standard right-handed guitar and stringing it upside down for left-handed use. The problem is that leaves the controls and cable connection in the wrong place and you have to move the strap button, leaving an ugly hole in the side of your axe. The better option is to get this California Classic Left-Handed Solid Body Guitar from Monoprice!
This full-sized, 22-fret guitar features a left-handed, double-cutaway body made of basswood, a bolt-on maple neck, a rosewood fingerboard, and chrome machine heads/tuning pegs. It uses three single-coil pickups in the bridge, middle, and neck positions. A five-position selector switch allows you to use each of the three pickups individually, while the 2 and 4 positions combine the neck and bridge pups with the middle one for that distinctive "quack" sound. A tremolo/whammy bar is included for note bending.
Before it gets shipped to you, each Monoprice guitar undergoes a setup, tuning, and inspection process by Master Luthier Roger Gresco here in Southern California. The setup ensures that the neck is straight, the action is right, and that it will stay in tune. Additionally, it comes with everything you need to get started, including strings (installed), the tremolo/whammy bar, a heavy-duty zippered black gig bag with shoulder strap, and a truss-rod wrench.
Cons: - Frets edges are rough
- Tuning hardware is 'good'... far from 'great'.
I bought this guitar for my son, who is left handed. This is his first electric.
Myself... I am an experienced, right-handed, guitar player (20+ years).
I highly recommend this guitar for anyone interested in playing guitar.
Guitars that have similar HARDWARE can cost ~$150.
Guitars that have similar paint jobs (… with better hardware) can cost ~$350.
So, if you ball-park it, this guitar should be priced around $200... Monoprice sells it for WAY less. Super deal!
Don’t hesitate… buy it today!

My only recommendation to the Monoprice team...
I know these guitars are coming from China. They are CNC fabrications. I’m cool with that.
My guitar came with a certificate that indicated it was inspected by a luthier (professional guitar inspector / repairer). If so, you guys should consider buffing the frets before shipping. They are very rough.
When I saw the certificate fall out of the box, I was like "Wow!.. a luthier!". But as I ran my hand down the neck, I was like "Umm... Either the luthier doesn't care about quality or Monoprice is trying to save on cost."
Also, this might be an isolated incident but…
My guitar had a NOTICIABLE blemish on the body. After careful examination, I’ve determined that it was NOT from shipping but form the paint factory (uneven coat, you can almost see the wood). This goes back to your ‘luthier’… if Monoprice REALLY has a luither on staff, this error would’ve been caught prior to shipping.

Pros: good price
Love the design. seems well made and high quality.
I dont own an a 1/4" cable so i couldnt test the output
very bad open string buzzing on the 6th/E string. very minor buzzing when fretting 6th string.think the nut slot might be poorly cut, not sure how the master luther missed this,
no problem with the other strings.
i like this guitar a lot even though im going to invest in fixing the buzzing.

Hard to believe...
Pros: Solid build Nicely set-up (considering) Price Response and sound
Cons: At this price point (under $100 when I bought it) what could you knock?
I'm a lefty and there just aren't too many ready made numbers like this available at anywhere near this price. After checking out the reveiws on the right-handed model I gave this strat wanna-be a go. Unfortunately the first one arrived with a defective 1/4 jack input plug...not sure how the quality control luthier that purportedly sets up and checks out each guitar let that get past him, but a new one was shipped out the next day. Although a lefty, I play with a right-handed stringing arrangement so I reversed the nut and replaced the stock strings. Next I set up the proper intonation...well-made or not, this step is a must. If you like you can have luthier do it or check out youtube for lots of tutorials and do it yourself. After these basic but necessary steps this guitar has been an absolute blast to play. I can't vouch for how this instrument stacks up against the real mcCoy but I luthier friend of mine gave it going-over and was stunned at the quality at this price. Overall, it's a great little guitar and you can't go wrong if you decide to pick one up for yourself.
