Plug & Play Wireless Day & Night IP Camera w/ Two Way Audio - H.264
Could you use an extra set of eyes and ears? Would you like to keep an eye out on your front porch for that expected delivery from Monoprice? Would you like to keep one eye on the napping baby while you make dinner or clean out the garage? Would you like to find out which critter it is that eats the dog food at night? While we can't be in two places at once, we can monitor two or more places at once with this Plug & Play Wireless Day & Night IP Camera from Monoprice!
This camera is designed first and foremost for ease of use. Installation and setup is as simple as plugging in a LAN cable and mounting the camera where you want to view. The included software allows you to connect to your IP cameras from anywhere in the world using just the camera ID and password. You don't have mess with network settings, change your firewall, or pay for an expensive fixed IP. The camera also comes mobile apps for Android and iOS, which let you monitor your cameras using your smartphone.
The camera features two separate sets of lenses and sensors, one tuned for daytime use and the other for night use. The night lens can capture images up to 30 feet away using the built-in IR illumination LEDs.
The camera can capture/record video to a local PC, network attached storage, or to a micro SD card installed in the camera. It supports timed recording as well as recording based on a triggered event. Event triggering can be done with normal video motion detection, audio detection, and infrared detection.
The camera includes a microphone and a 3.5mm speaker jack (speaker not included), so you can communicate in real-time with whoever happens to be at the camera location, making it a perfect tool for safely checking deliveries at the door. It supports both wired and wireless connections, allowing it to be used in locations where you might not have Ethernet cable installed. It is powered with a 5 VDC AC Adapter (included) and comes with a mounting stand.

Pros: Plain-English instructions were easy to follow, and the picture isn't bad.
Cons: No installation software for the Mac! Bad dog!
One would think that, if a product has an associated iPhone app, that it would ship with installation software for the Mac. Not this one! Windows only! Nothing in the ad said so. I had to charge up an old windows laptop in order to install this thing on my home system, and you can guess that I was not thrilled. Once I got past that hurdle, the camera worked as I expected on the iPhone, and the image was actually quite good, and I would give it an 8 were it not for no Mac software.

I'm sure it works great, but this isn't a very useful product
Pros: I'm sure there are many and I'm sure what the other reviewers said is accurate. To be honest, I didn't even get to the point of using the product itself so I can't speak for any of the benefits of this product.
Cons: This could be the best wireless day/night video camera in the world but it is almost entirely useless without an internal battery/ability to use batteries given that the power cord is only 4-feet long.
Preface - I have not actually used the product. I unpackaged it and realized very quickly this wasn't going to suit my needs (I fail to see how it really suits anyone's needs) and my review is based on the usefulness of the product as opposed to the actual quality of the build or the user interface.
"Would you like to keep an eye out on your front porch for that expected delivery from Monoprice?"
So, I admit - I was sucked in by Monoprice's blurb about keeping any eye out on my front porch and I pulled the trigger on the purchase when the item went on sale from Monoprice's already competitive pricing. Unfortunately, when the product arrived, I realized very quickly that not only would it not suit my needs for a front porch camera in my specific situation but I doubt it would suit almost anyone's needs for a front porch camera due to the incredibly short power cord which requires:
1) The camera be within 4-feet of an electrical outlet
2) You run a permanent extension cord to where you'd like to mount the camera
Neither of these situations are ideal and I'll explain why...
First off, most electrical outlets outside the kitchen or bathrooms are located approximately 1-foot off the ground. Regardless of where you decide you'd like to mount your camera, I can't imagine that a camera mounted 5-feet off the ground (1-foot electrical socket + 4-foot power cord) being particularly useful for anyone unless you are mounting the camera directly to a baby's crib or something... but that baby's crib couldn't be in the middle of the room - it would have to be butted up against the wall for this thing to be able to reach and have any use at all.
How on earth are you supposed to mount this thing to a front porch? My porch has an 8-foot ceiling (which I imagine is close to average) and in order to mount this camera on my front porch, the 4-foot cord wouldn't even touch the ground and it would require a permanently displayed extension cord just to power it. Keep in mind, the power cord probably wouldn't even stay in place because the heavy AC adapter end of it would continue to pull downward.
Additionally, if the power cord is hanging down halfway from an 8-foot ceiling and plugged into an extension cord, it would make the camera very obvious to anyone coming to my porch and it would give literally anyone the opportunity to disconnect the camera whenever they'd like - some security camera, eh?
How many people have an electrical outlet available on the ceiling of their porch to accommodate a 4-foot power cord for a camera that is being advertised as a front porch camera? Its certainly not common in my neighborhood.
If you're unwilling to have your camera mounted within 4-feet of your electrical outlet, then your only other option is to run an extension cord from the outlet to wherever you'd like to mount your camera - and if I know most people, their concepts of good interior or exterior design typically do not include visible extension cords running through or around the house on a semi-permanent to permanent basis.
Personally, I don't want an extension cord permanently running out my mail slot to power a camera mounted to my front porch ceiling, particularly when the power cord can't even reach the ground.
So, in the end, this product has many uses... but, unfortunately, the vast majority of them require that the unit power itself (by internal or removable batteries) instead of being powered by an electrical outlet via a 4-foot cord.
I would avoid buying this and I would look for a camera which includes an internal battery.
Great idea, very short-sighted execution.

So inexpensive, it's worth a try - interesting device
Pros: + Pretty small.
+ Night vision - I haven't tried it yet, but other reviewers covered it - having it as an option is better than not :-)
+ Very easy to setup - not sure if it's secure - apparently you can log into the camera with "admin" and no password. I have yet to try connecting to it's IP and poke at it...
+ Has an Android app.
+ Very adjustable and stands well on the included bracket, which can be mounted to a wall.
+ MonoCam software for Windows claims to handle up to 36 cameras/channels businesses could save a lot of money by using these cameras and a Windows computer, instead of DVRs and other such obsolescent hardware.
Cons: - basic & proprietary software.
- unable to find motion-detection based recording in the desktop/Windows software.
I bought this camera for under $100 on sale, because I need to monitor my home-office, and the features on this one are far ahead of anything else I've seen so far in this price range.
It's a very clever piece of hardware!

Very Happy !
Pros: Extremely easy to install in both connected and WiFi modes. In Fact is was so easy that I thought I must have missed a step.
Lots of options in settings, app was easy to install and name cameras, viewing via the app and computer is seamless and consistent.
The audio is clear and intelligible and a very nice feature.
Cons: In dark settings the cameras switch to black & white. I guess that makes sense but we didn't initially expect that.
We bought two of these cameras for our vacation home and are pleasantly surprised with the installation and performance.
Having audio is a nice feature!
VERY pleased with everything and I'm sure we'll buy a few more of them without any hesitation. I'm probably going to get some of these for our remote business locations too...
