Z-Wave Motion Detector w/ Temperature Sensor - NO LOGO

Add Z-Wave® functionality to your home security system using this Z-Wave Passive Infrared Motion Detector from Monoprice!

Z-Wave is a low power mesh networking communications technology that allows Z-Wave enabled devices to communicate with each other and to distribute Z-Wave messages throughout to network. This sensor uses an infrared sensor to detect motion and sends Z-Wave signal when motion is detected within its detection range. This trigger signal can then be used to activate various other devices and perform preprogrammed tasks.

This sensor comes with everything you need to install it into an existing Z-Wave network, including adhesive tape and a CR123A battery for power.

    No Temperature on VeraLite

    • Rick,

Pros: Great battery life and inexpensive.

Cons: No temperature function with VeraLite.

Works as a motion sensor and battery lasts a long time. Have two.
My VeraLite does not see the temperature function on them. This is a big reason I bought them. May be a VeraLIte issue or maybe just need better documentation.

    Hi Rick,

For the VeraLite, the temperature reading should show up when added as a separate device. In order to achieve this, you would need to install the iDoorContact plugin. Thank you for your feedback and I hope this helps!

Works OK, but misleading info on website

    Pros: Easy to set up
    -Motion worked with wink

    Cons: 0Dows not sense temperature
    -User manual is lacking
    -monoprice title very misleading

I set this up with my wink hub and it works fine as a motion sensor as far as I can tell, however monoproce sells this device as a motion AND temperature sensor, and it is only a motion sensor as far as I can tell (out does not touch on any temperature settings in the included manual).

    Even Works Outside

    • PeterR,

    Pros: Works with StaplesConnect
    Works outside (protected for precipitation)

    Cons: None so far

Technically, it is for indoor use but I attached mine under the overhang on my garage and linked it to my StaplesConnect Hub and now it turns on the driveway light (linked by z-wave dual relay) when we drive up or away after 6 PM (or if someone walks up in the evening). It resets after three minutes of no motion. It is rated to +5 F and it worked the other morning with low of +6 F (burrr). So far so good.

    poor performance

    • Pan Chan,

    Pros: low cost

Cons: poor range at least w/Smartthings hub

I purchased 3 Monoprice motion sensor units, all paired to Smartthings hub, but range was far shy of the "100 feet line of sight" stated in the manual. It communicated to the hub from 37 feet line of sight but not 40 feet. Also could not reach the hub from behind a closed door just 30 feet away. I had all 3 units running simultaneously, but I didn't observe any range extension intrinsic to having multiple z-wave units. So then I went and got the more expensive Smartthings motion sensor, and it communicates back to the hub from everywhere in the house. Such short range w/my Smartthings hub renders these useless.

Thank you for your review and I am truly sorry for the inconvenience you've had with the detector. Have you by chance tried this with a different Z-wave controller? As it might be a limitation with the controller on the range. Have you also tried changing the batteries on it? Please let me know, thank you!
