Z-Wave Door and Window Sensor - (replacement sku is 15270)

Add Z-Wave® functionality to your home security system using this Z-Wave Door and Window Sensor from Monoprice!

Z-Wave is a low power mesh networking communications technology that allows Z-Wave enabled devices to communicate with each other and to distribute Z-Wave messages throughout to network. This sensor monitors a door or window and sends a Z-Wave signal when the door or window is opened and closed. This trigger signal can then be used to activate various other devices and perform preprogrammed tasks.

This sensor comes with everything you need to install it into an existing Z-Wave network, including mounting screws, adhesive tape, and a CR123A battery for power.

    Works Well With SmartThings

This sensor paired easily and works well with SmartThings. My only complaint is that there has to be a pretty wide gap for the sensor to read as "open," and I had to offset the two pieces so far that they don't remotely line up when the door is closed.

    Zero batteries and very unreliable

    Pros: Cheaper than name brand

Cons: No batteries unreliable open/close signals

I ordered 6 of these and not a single one had a battery. Ok, I thought I saved $10 piece compared to name brand battery costs about $2 still came out ahead. Then came the setup, they were added to my zwave network easily but that's about all I can say for them. They constantly give false open alerts or a door open and it doesn't register when it closes. I finally got tired and tried to remove one from my network and only force delete would work and now it is impossible to add it back to network.

I truly apologize for the inconvenient experience faced with these sensors. Regarding the batteries, we are aware of the issue and are currently looking into correcting it. It appears to be a problem with a recent batch, sorry to say. For now, we can send out the missing batteries to you. Please let me know if you would like to proceed and I will get that going right away. Or, if truly unsatisfied with the sensors, I can setup a return instead. Sorry again for the trouble and thank you for your feedback.

Works well but my sensors didn't have batteries in them.

    Pros: Very reasonably priced
Works great with my Wink Hub

Cons: Batteries were not included in my package

The sensors appear to work great with my Wink hub. I have to say I was disappointed though when I received them as the sensors appear to be new (I bought 2 of them) but neither of them had the CR 123 battery that should have been included in the package. Fortunately for me I had a couple of CR 123 batteries laying around the house.

After submitting a message to customer service, Monoprice followed up on the next business day and sent out the missing batteries. Overnight.

I've since installed the sensors on doors around the house and they appear to be working fine with my Vera Lite (UI5).

    Door/Window Sensor

    Pros: Inexpensive
    Works with Smartthings

Cons: Not designed to be removed and reinstalled repeatedly

Order 6 units. A few things to note:
    1) 1 sensor came with a battery that show 50% charged (just installed). This sensor also occasionally "chatters" .
    2) The 19mm gap per instructions is very optimistic. For consistent reliability, the gap should probably be less that half that.

Haven't compared these against other sensors that are more expensive. However, does pretty much work as advertised.
