Ceiling TV Wall Mount for Most 17" ~ 37" Flat Panels, UL Certified
Sometimes you need to mount a display where there is no wall or where a wall mount solution would be inconvenient. In those cases you need a Ceiling TV Mount from Monoprice!
This mount attaches to a ceiling using two keyholes, which makes installation a breeze. The main support tube drops the center of the display down between 22.8" and 33.6" from the ceiling. The tube is hollow and can accommodate the cabling for a clean installation. The bracket has undergone extensive safety testing and has been certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), which ensures that it will perform safely and reliably.
Safety Note! If you will be running your cables through the wall or ceiling, they must be rated for in-wall and in-ceiling use in order to conform to fire safety regulations.
The TV mounting plate accommodates displays with 75x75, 100x100, 200x100, and 200x200 VESA mounting patterns, which includes most 23" to 42" TVs*. It supports up to 55 lbs (including the weight of the bracket itself) and mounts the back of the TV 4.7" from the center of the main support pole. The mounted display can be swiveled ±90°, tilted ±15°, and rotated ±4°, allowing you to ensure that the display is leveled. Mounting hardware is included.
* Note that the display screen size is only an approximation. Your TV is compatible with this mount as long as your display has a VESA mounting pattern and weight that fit within the size and weight limits listed above.
Note that the manual incorrectly states that the mount supports 360° rotation. We apologize for the error and will update the manual as soon as possible.
Cons: Hole to run cables is too small.
Mounting plate Trim makes creaking noises.
The mount comes with a lot of hardware (extra sets of bolts, etc.), which is nice, but strangely, there are four washers that go on bolts to mount the poles to each other and to the ceiling mounting plate, and those washers were one size too small they don't fit onto the bolts. Not a huge deal though.
Also, the holes in the posts that allow hidden cable runs were way too small to even run a thick HDMI cable through (with large ferrite beads). I wish that was bigger, I had to zip tie the HDMI and power cables to the exterior of the pole. Again, not a huge deal.
I mounted a 30lb TV, and the post definitely leans out quite a bit, so don't expect the post to stay perpendicular to the ceiling with a heavier TV. It's a sturdy mount, but there is a fair amount of "play" in the post. The play comes from how the post mounts to the ceiling plate. It's fine since you can adjust the angle of the TV to compensate, but if you are trying to get a very specific screen position, you'll need to factor in this "sway".
Good product, Monoprice!

Pros: It has mounting points and hardware that make it look like it will support your TV/Monitor
Cons: The entire assembly relies on the 4 tiny spot welds from the down pole to the ceiling mounting flange. As this is intended to move, swivel, there will inevitably be torque & sheer forces on these VERY flimsy welds - your TV will wind up on the ground, or at best hanging from the cables if you've secured them well enough. I modified mine before I noticed, or I'd return it.

Pros: More-than-adequate quantities of hardware supplied.
TV is still hanging.
Swivels left-to-right very easily (one of the main reasons I purchased this one rather than use one I found on Craigslist that had you rotate the entire column).
Cons: Width of entry & exit points for cables in columb.
Columb looks insecure when extended to their longest.
Stripped 1 of the 2 ceiling mounting bolts I needed for the wood beam option had to use a socket wrench to remove it (luckily, there were 2 more supplied, for those choosing the concrete mounting option).
I personally would have flipped steps 1 & 2 in the instructions (see review for more detailed info).
Paired with the 400x200mm bracket universal adapter to mount a 42" TV from the ceiling. I have 2 HDMI cables running through the columb, but the width of the entry & exit points weren't wide enough to accommodate the VGA & power cables I was hoping to run as well.
As to the flip-flopping of steps 1 & 2: As instructed, I assembled the ceiling mount and upper portion of the column, taking care to include the plastic cover, before running the HDMI cable through, then attaching the lower portion of the column. Trouble was, the presence of the plastic cover and HDMI cable sticking out the top made it impossible to properly secure the mount to the ceiling joist. So I basically had to take the whole thing apart (except for removing the HDMI cable because, as I mentioned above, it was a pain to get through the exit point of the column), then install the ceiling mount, followed by the plastic cover and entire column. Then, proceeded on to step, which was a piece of cake from there.
Not really a con, but having seen other mounts in action, I'd prefer to be able to adjust the tilt without taking the TV and bracket off the column portion. Also, a spirit bubble or two (horizontal & vertical) would be nice so I could tell if the TV is, in fact level.
I wish I had more pros to specifically list, because it looks like I hated the thing, but truth is, it was fairly easy to install, and it looks pretty spectacular.

Pros: Works like a champ, easy to install.
Cons: I thought it was able to spin 360 degrees, it does not. It spins maybe 200 degrees, so it works for my purposes.
