    HDBaseT™ Extender Kit

Monoprice is a proud member of the HDBaseT Alliance

Extend your HDMI® audio/video signal to distances up to 328 feet using a single Cat6 cable with this HDBaseT™ Extender from Monoprice!

This Extender uses a new technology, which allows for a full bandwidth 10.2Gbps data throughput over a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable. The full 10.2Gbps bandwidth means that it supports all High Speed HDMI functions, including all HDMI 3D video modes, the extended 4K cinema resolution, 32-bit Deep Color, and high-definition compressed lossless audio, such as DTS-HD Master Audio™ and Dolby TrueHD™.

The extender features a built-in, bidirectional infrared (IR) signal extender, which allows you to remotely control devices at the source or destination end of the connection. For example, normal operation would allow control of the source blu-ray player from the remote TV location.

Additionally, the extender is capable of transmitting a full-duplex 100Mbps local area network connection alongside the HDMI and IR signals. Each extender unit has two RJ45 LAN jacks. As long as one of the four jacks is connected to the network, the other three will propagate the network connection. This allows you to wire another room for HDMI video, IR remote control repeating, and full internet access, using only a single Cat6 cable!

Note: While this extender will function using unshielded Cat5e cabling, we recommend the use of shielded Cat6 cabling for greater reliability over longer distances. Also note that any cable run through the walls must be rated for in-wall installations.

    Features:

    • Extends HDMI signals up to 328 feet (100 meters) using a single Cat6 cable
    • Extends 100Base-TX network connectivity along with the HDMI video
    • Can be daisy chained up to six units deep
    • Built-in bidirectional IR repeater
    • Supports all High Speed HDMI functions, including 3D video

Note: Monoprice strongly recommends using 22AWG, 24AWG, or active HDMI cables with Redmere technology to achieve the best results and to ensure minimum signal loss over longer distances.

Pros: The unit works great, I installed about 80 of these units & all worked great & I am very please with the units, the IR is great on saving money but this is a non professional IR system. see cons below.... there is no mounting, see cons below...over all I will continue to use these in my professional AV installations for commercial use.

Cons: The IR is made to sit in front of the devise, which 99% of the time it has to be mounted to the devise such as a video projector hanging 15' from the floor, there is no way to mount the IR at the receiver devise, we have to make a hanger that looks non professional but it has to do.... this IR TX needs to be able to stick on the IR sensor on the devise, I tried other emitters with this receiver unit bit it does not work...This should be change for professional installs...

There is not a mounting brackets, we are a professional AV installation company for commercial bushiness, we mount these units from 12 to 40 units at a time on a plywood board mounted on the wall but there is no mounting brackets, we have to make our own with standoffs....this is a hassle & time consuming,

The HD BaseT sender/reliever unit is great & works right out of the box, it could be 10-times better with a mounted bracket to secure to a wall, also the IR units is made to sit in front of the viewing devise, which is strange & almost UN-useable... this should be change to be use properly by sticking the IR emitter to the devise IR sensor... so to recap....the IR units Sucks there is no way to mount the IR emitter,...there is no mounts brackets to mount on a board that sucks... if you don't need a wall mounts or if not using the IR unit then this unit is great... For the price & the dependability, this system is one of the best I have used, but it is not made for the professional installations MONOPRICE Please help us AV installers with a professional, low cost, HD BaseT extender/receiver units with wall mounting brackets & a stick on emitter for the video devise.... This is really a great product & I would recommend this unit as my 1st choice in HD BaseT units...

Pros: Works extremely well with the occasional needed reset/power cycle on the receiver end.

Cons: High receiver failure rate (according to other reviews and now solidified by my own experience.

Well, I guess you can add my name to the high failure rate category. My receiver unit needed to be reset from time to time, but it finally crapped out completely yesterday in the middle of my daughters 16th Bday party (inconvenient timing to say the least). I just looked up when I purchased this and it was Nov2014 - so I got about 19 months service out of it, which breaks down to a little over $8 a month. Because I don't know of anything out there that quite fits the my needs like this product does, I guess I'll go ahead and order another one and maybe this time I can squeeze two years out it.

    High Failure Rate

Pros: Small, works as advertised (so long as it is working). Relatively inexpensive.

    Cons: Extremely high failure rate.

I have acquired 3 of these devices over the last 6 months for my business. One was dead within 1 month. The second was dead within 6 months. 2/3rds failure rate within 6 months does not appear to be acceptable for high end electronic equipment unfortunately. Currently sitting on an interminable hold on the company's help line, hopefully the company will provide a replacement that works.

They work for a while then the reciever module fails

I bought 3 sets or these and while they work they are great. After a while the receiver module fails. I currently only have 1 working receiver module left from the 3 sets. All the extender transmitter modules still work. Monoprice should stop selling these as they will fail and if your lucky they will fail prior to 1 year. Who wants a solution that won't work for years when spending this much money. I paid 200 or more per set back when I purchased 3 sets.
