8 Outlet Home Theatre Power Center w/ Data and Video Protection - 3500 Joules

Give your home theater system the gift of clean power with this Home Theater Power Center from Monoprice!

Your home theater is your baby. You've lovingly selected just the right receiver and speakers. Your video display is mounted just right and your blu-ray collection is filled with your favorite movies and videos. Why risk damage to your equipment caused by something as easily preventable as dirty AC input power?

This Home Theater Power Center is designed with a standard equipment form factor, so that it will fit right in with the other equipment in your cabinet or rack.It is rated for 3500 joules and includes 8 power outlets on the rear of the unit, 4 switched and 4 unswitched. The LED display on the front panel shows the actual measured voltage level of the incoming power, while smaller LEDs below the digital display indicate power on, protection, grounding, and alarm status.

The circuitry within the power center both cleans the incoming power and provides surge protection. If an incoming power spike exceeds the rated threshold, the power center will trip its circuit breaker to prevent damage to your equipment.

In addition to providing AC protection, the Home Theater Power Center includes inline protection for RF coaxial cables and for RJ45 Ethernet cables. The power center features a heavy duty 5.5-foot power cord and a 90-degree type power plug.

Pros: Looks nice, clean, half always on and half controlled plugs is really smart

Cons: Only had for 2 weeks but none yet

I've always eyed these at the big box store but, to me and my usage, never felt the price tag justified the results. At this price, I couldn't pass it up and it really is a great addition to my set up. I'm sure it's common with these units but I didn't realize/wasn't expecting half the plugs to be "always on" and half to be controlled by the button on front. That's really smart and perfect for my system to have my DVR and Cable box and Google TV to be "always on" and the other units to easily be turned on/off with just 1 touch of the button. The unit looks really clean and I feel it actually adds to the "look" of my system.

Pros: A necessary piece of equipment in a Home Theater project, product looks good and provides enough plugs for my needs

When considering this item just remember you will want your plugs at the back of a rack system so consider mounting issues. Once installed it works

Pros: Looks great. Eight outlets. Heavy solid construction. Lights on back for switched outlets. Labeling printed onto of unit for specific outlets.

Cons: Power cord on left of unit (viewing from the front)

Had this unit for a couple of weeks. Works great. Reads at 117 when TV, receiver, dvd player, or other items are running. Reads 118 when there is nothing running, but everything is still getting power. Holds steady. I have it on all the time since many of my components, if turned off, would lose their channel and timer memories. I use all eight outlets and use only one large block plug which I have plugged on the end of the unit so it does not interfere with the other outlets.

Pros: This device looks good, and works perfect

    Cons: None

I have 2 of these units, and let me tell you, buying these have been the best investment I'v done when it comes to electronics, the only way to know if they work is if there a power failure and these both have already protected my equipment, once from high current during a storm and the other from high voltage in my neighborhood. The equipment was shutting down and I though it was already giving me issues, the meter in the front was measuring voltage being at 130, which is too high, so I took a voltmeter and confirmed that was the case, called teh electric company and they found a problem and to make adjustments to make electricity go back to normal y my community.

    So Far, So Good

Pros: Easy setup, feels solid, constant voltage readout.

    Cons: None yet.

I bought this because I have a really nice TV and sound system in the living room. I thought it was about time to give all of that equipment good, clean power. This device will actually make a difference in the way your equipment works. The TV is just a hair more crisp and the audio, the same. I don't have to worry about power spikes and dips anymore. The "antenna" feed from the wall to the cable box is filtered now too.

This is really a great device for the price. This unit looks a lot like the Monster power conditioner I use for my recording studio. It works almost the same as well.
