12 Outlet Power Surge Protector w/ Coax Protection - 3420 Joules

Protect your electronic equipment from damaging voltage and current spikes with this Monoprice surge protector!

This model includes twelve protected power outlets, 4 of which are positioned for AC power adapters, and two pairs of gold plated coaxial/RF line protection circuits. The clear plastic tabs on the sides of the unit illuminate green to indicate when the surge protector is providing protection to your equipment and when a proper ground is detected.

When the protection circuitry has been fully consumed by power and current spikes, the protection light will no longer illuminate, indicating that the surge protector should be replaced. When the grounded tab is not illuminated it indicates that there is a problem with the house wiring and that the ground is not properly connected to the power outlet.

The surge protector has 4 keyholes on the back, allowing it to be secured to a wall or other surface.

    Good product

Pros: Ideal for students, home and office environments.

Cons: Can't handle many power tools

Plugged my hammer drill, tool charger, sawzall, shop-vac and a few others for a test as soon as I received the product and it's still functioning. Protectors keep the outlets clean which makes it ideal for different environments. I'm quite impressed.

Pros: HIGH voltage protection. GREAT spacing for multiple power adapters. Smart design. 10 STARS!

    Cons: NONE.

GREAT power bar. High voltage protection. GREAT spacing for power adapters. As a Contractor I've bought MANY of these units. I use them during renovations, and install them in mechanical rooms (yeah, I'm fussy) to power alarm systems and all items computer related. GREAT price, GREAT-looking item.

Strange to see Monoprice products that aren't competitive

    Pros: High joule rating

Cons: No connected equipment guarantee, relatively short warranty, price is a bit high - not the usual outstanding Monoprice value.

Let me start by saying that I'm a big fan of Monoprice and have been for many years. I buy a ton of stuff from them. (I wish I could buy my surge protectors from them, too!) I'm so accustomed to the outstanding value of MP products that it's very surprising when I run across MP products that are not a good value.

As a small business person offering mobile tech services, I love that Monoprice offers such amazing values on cables and accessories that I'm able to resell them at a very good/competitive price and still turn a decent profit. Sadly, this is not so on MP's new line of surge protectors.

I work in an area where there's a lot of lightning strikes every year, so I stock/sell surge protectors, making them available to my customers at prices very close to what MP is charging for theirs - while still making a decent profit margin. I do this by scouring the web for great deals, then stocking up when I find them. But aside from the price and profit margins, there are two critical differences... First, I only buy/stock/sell surge protectors from companies (like Belkin, APC, TrippLite and Panamax) that offer a lifetime warranty on the surge protector itself. Second, they come with a connected equipment guarantee (usually $50,000 or more) so that if the device fails to protect the equipment, my customers get a new TV, receiver, etc.

For Monoprice to offer surge protectors at these (relatively high) prices, with no lifetime warranty and no connected equipment guarantee, they're just not competitive at all. Very disappointing.
