This powered subwoofer is the exact same as the one included in our Premium 5.1-Channel Home Theater Speaker System (PID 10565). It features an 8" downward firing speaker driven by a 200 watt amplifier. It handles frequencies from 30Hz to 150Hz (-10dB) and uses a variable crossover from 40-150Hz. It is enclosed in a 12.6" cube and weighs about 20 lbs.

The sub features four large rubber feet, which keep the downward firing driver off the floor. It includes both line and speaker level stereo inputs, so it can be used with any amplifier. A phase control switch on the back allows you to adjust the phase of the subwoofer in relation to the rest of the system.

Works well with one problem

Pros: Looks Nice, Sounds good.

Cons: First subwoofer died after a few hours.

Good sounding and looking sub. The first time I used it, it stopped producing sound after a few hours. powered up, lights on, no sound. Contacted support and got an RMA quickly and easily. new speaker came a few days after i returned the defective one. So far so good with the replacement (fingers crossed).

Pros: Sounded good while it worked.

Cons: Ceased to function in less than a year

I was happy to get the 5.1 set up and enjoyed music and movies for a few months. Recently I noticed something was lacking and realized there was no sound coming from the subwoofer, and nothing I tried would awaken it. Another less than satisfying product made in China.

Monoprice's tech response was super positive and very helpful! As soon as I return the defective speaker they will replace it...Yay!

Pros: Well built and sturdy. Excellent workmanship that could be selling for a few hundred dollars. Easy to set up and with controls easily reached. Sound is pretty neutral and uncolored.

Cons: a little boomy on the bottom octave when pushed it a little harder on the volume output.

It definitely won't go wrong for a well crafted sub woofer that is under a hundred dollars. Even the packaging is excellent.

1 works sorta ok 1 constantly hums

Pros: Price

Cons: Loud 60 Hz hum whenever it is plugged in
Really loud 60 Hz hum when it is turned on
Auto off sometimes works, mostly not

Bought two for a 7.2 home theater system. Bought them the same time as as the in-wall speakers. Tested in December and found no issues. Put aside until home theater was complete (Trimming and carpeting took longer than expected, I am a slow contractor). Come May and the home theater is complete, but now I have discovered that one sub works OK (main problem: usually the auto off doesn't work, even when physically disconnected from the source, but otherwise is a reasonable sub-woofer), and the other sub is a nightmare, it has a constant 60 Hz buzz in the off position and it becomes really loud when you turn it on. It makes that sub unusable. Neither sub meets my expectations for Monprice products, but this is the first thing that I have bought from Monoprice that plugs into the wall. Every cable, connector, unpowered speaker, and mount has been perfect before. Even when I had a box that was delivered open and missing parts, Monoprice took care of me.

My apologies for the inconvenient experience you have faced while using PID 10801. Regarding the non-working subwoofer, does it hum even when there is no source connected? Can we try swapping it out to the working sub's setup to see if the issues follow? Please connect the sub using the same cables and power outlet as the working one just so we can best isolate where the problem may be.

Please let me know if the problems still occur. If they do, I can assist you with obtaining an RMA for a replacement. We cover this subwoofer with a one year warranty and obtaining the replacement would be of no additional cost to you. Sorry again for the trouble and I hope this helps!

I moved the buzzing sub to another electrical circuit with no cables attached. I had the power switch in the off position. As soon as I plugged it in, it started buzzing, so it appears that the sub has a bad power supply capacitor. I see no option but to return it.

I received my RMA UPS prepaid shipping label. Thank you. I was afraid that I would have to spend $40 to send back the sub-woofer. Monoprice rocks!

After a few weeks of use, the replacement sub-woofer appears to be functioning well. The auto off feature now works on both subs. Thank you Gabby and Monoprice.

Now I would revise my rating to 4.5 stars. I have heard more powerful subwoofers, but they come at a significantly higher cost. This fits my needs and budget

Worked than quit

Cons: Amount of time it worked for

I bought this subwoofer and in ceiling speakers. I went off the recommendations from the reviews. It worked perfectly for 2 and a half months now nothing. I now have to purchase a new one and sitting on a loss with this one. I guess you get what you pay for, however I never had an issue with prior orders. Just hate losing out on this after a sort period of time.

Hello Gabby there has been no changes, and there is no bass coming out the subwoofer. There is power going to it, due to the indicator light working. The RMA would be greatly appreciated.
