    *** NEWS FLASH! ***

Surround yourself in high-fidelity with the Monoprice 5.1-channel Home Theater Speaker System!

This speaker system features four satellite speakers and a center channel speaker for the mid- and high-range audio signals, plus an 8" powered subwoofer to handle the low frequencies. All the speakers come with an attractive black finish and convenient spring-loaded signal connectors.

The center speakers use two 3" shielded mid-range cones, while the satellites employ one 3" cone and a 1/2" dome tweeter. However, don't let the small size fool you! These 8 ohm speakers will handle up to 125 watts of power from your home theater receiver at frequencies from 150 Hz to 20 kHz.

The subwoofer is powered by a 60 watt (RMS) amplifier, driving a downward firing 8" cone. It can take either line or speaker-level inputs, so can be used with any amplifier, even older amps without dedicated subwoofer outputs. The subwoofer handles frequencies between 50 Hz to 250 Hz and includes adjustable crossover frequency and volume balance controls.

Also included in the box are four C brackets for mounting the satellite speakers to the wall and the necessary hardware for mounting the speakers to the brackets. A pair of plastic feet to properly orient the face of the center speaker is also included. Note that you will need to provide your own hardware for mounting the C brackets to the wall or other vertical surface.

Don't let the low price fool you! This speaker system sounds great and will fill your room with high-quality, full-spectrum sound!

Note: The speaker wire connectors on each unit comfortably accept a maximum 16 gauge speaker wire. For best results, Monoprice strongly recommends using pin-type speaker plugs to make the speaker connections and banana or pin-type plugs to connect the wires to your amplifier.

WARNING! Take extreme care when unpacking the subwoofer from the box. The subwoofer speaker is exposed on the bottom and could be damaged if the unit is grabbed carelessly.

Pros: Small, powerful, good sound, sub-woofer works well, cheap

Cons: Center channel has no built-in way to mount it and no rubber feet if you wanted to place it on a shelf.

I've been holding off getting a full surround system for years because of the cost ... finally saw these for dirt cheap, read great reviews (and a few stinkers) and bought them. We have them in a medium/large room and they sound great and fill the room with sound. We're not audiophiles, but the sound is 100x better than just the built in TV speakers. Our kids upstairs are asking us to turn it down at night when we are watching TV. I can't say anything bad about them except there's no built-in way to mount the center channel. I had to drill two holes in the center channel to mount it to the ceiling in our family room. I tried setting it right below the TV but it doesn't have any rubber feet and would vibrate when it was turned up. The sub-woofer hits hard enough for us and for the price, who can complain. Now we'll see how long they hold up.

    Pros: great sound
    great price
comes with mounting hardware for the satellites

Cons: no provision for mounting the center channel.

They're well packaged box had your typical UPS markings all over it by the time it got to my house, but the contents were undamaged. The satellites produce a clean sound, and the sub, once I adjusted the frequency response and volume on the back of the unit, makes satisfying booms. The sound quality of the system, when paired with the Yamaha receiver I'm using, compares very well with much more expensive rigs I've heard elsewhere.

Pros: compact size, adequately powered subwoofer. Everything needed included including the satellite speaker mounts

Cons: Maybe it's my amplifier but I have the sub set to auto on, but it doesnt seem like it works?

I was pleasantly surprised by how good these speakers and sub works. For gamin/PC use these speakers are total overkill but that's a good thing. Immersing you into the game

Very good value, and perfect for small rooms..
But those C brackets are too special to find anywhere else. I lost mine during moving, and now all these speakers are collecting dust. Really wish Monoprice could sold this type of accessories separately.

    Pros: Good size
    Easy to set up
    Sounds great

    Cons: Unreliable sub
MonoPrice recommends digital coax connections to the sub, but ships it with a cheap RCA cord????

I've been using this system for about 6 months now, and am mostly happy with it.
The satellites are reasonably small, easy to mount, and sound great.
As many other reviews mention, the sub-woofer is definitely the weak point in this system. Because of many of the reviews here that I read before purchasing, I never bothered trying the "Auto Off" function and have always left it fully On. When it works, it sounds great, and I'm quite happy with it.
A couple months after setting it up there was a period of about a week where it would hum, pop, crackle, etc. in a very disconcerting way and I was afraid that it had succumbed to the same problems that plague so many other reviewers here. I unplugged it, and left it unplugged for a few days while I debated purchasing a replacement. After deciding that I really didn't want to spend the money for a replacement, I plugged it back in and to my surprise, it worked great again!
It has been fine for 3 months now, which I"m glad for, but there's always a nagging feeling that it could die at any time again.
