*** NEWS FLASH! ***
Surround yourself in high-fidelity with the Monoprice 5.1-channel Home Theater Speaker System!
This speaker system features four satellite speakers and a center channel speaker for the mid- and high-range audio signals, plus an 8" powered subwoofer to handle the low frequencies. All the speakers come with an attractive black finish and convenient spring-loaded signal connectors.
The center speakers use two 3" shielded mid-range cones, while the satellites employ one 3" cone and a 1/2" dome tweeter. However, don't let the small size fool you! These 8 ohm speakers will handle up to 125 watts of power from your home theater receiver at frequencies from 150 Hz to 20 kHz.
The subwoofer is powered by a 60 watt (RMS) amplifier, driving a downward firing 8" cone. It can take either line or speaker-level inputs, so can be used with any amplifier, even older amps without dedicated subwoofer outputs. The subwoofer handles frequencies between 50 Hz to 250 Hz and includes adjustable crossover frequency and volume balance controls.
Also included in the box are four C brackets for mounting the satellite speakers to the wall and the necessary hardware for mounting the speakers to the brackets. A pair of plastic feet to properly orient the face of the center speaker is also included. Note that you will need to provide your own hardware for mounting the C brackets to the wall or other vertical surface.
Don't let the low price fool you! This speaker system sounds great and will fill your room with high-quality, full-spectrum sound!
Note: The speaker wire connectors on each unit comfortably accept a maximum 16 gauge speaker wire. For best results, Monoprice strongly recommends using pin-type speaker plugs to make the speaker connections and banana or pin-type plugs to connect the wires to your amplifier.
WARNING! Take extreme care when unpacking the subwoofer from the box. The subwoofer speaker is exposed on the bottom and could be damaged if the unit is grabbed carelessly.

CONS: Marginally acceptable sound
Does not have sub woofer input jack.
Requires purchase of Y splitter which you don't fond out until after you set them up.
PROS: Better sound than I could possibly ask for given the price.
CONS: Made in China. As far as i can tell all electronic and electrical products are sourced from one nation.
PROS: Love the Simple setup
PROS: Easy to connect, takes only minutes & ready to use.
CONS: Should note that an RCA y adapter will be needed for proper hookup to a receiver with subwoofer out, (or include one with the set for an additional couple of dollars). Knowing beforehand would save the bother of a trip out to get one.
PROS: small size and very easy to swap out with the old speakers I had in that room.
CONS: center speaker looks a little lots on top of the 50 inch tv, used our old one there just because it looked better. Wife said.
PROS: The sound is crisp and tight. Very detailed on the highs and mids. Very good construction and feel. The sub has some very good thump when you need it...Paired this system with the Monoprice speaker stands PID 3022 and they look as good as they sound!!!
CONS: Only problem I have is that wasn't any documentation on the speaker bracket mounting or the system as a whole. Only paper was about the sub and the inputs on the sub.
First of all these are better than just every Polk set I've ever owned/listened to. They're THAT good. Overall I'd say they aren't as crisp or tuned as my set of Energys, but at $1,120 price difference they are certainly a better value for my money.
To be fair its in a concrete floor shop, and I have the surrounds mounted pretty far apart and weighted heavily to the back speakers to balance the sound while working at my workbench. So its not exactly a home theatre room, I suspect they'd sound even better in my living room. I think that in place of my Energys they'd probably be 95% as good, and 14X cheaper!
Don't forget that it comes with mounting brackets (I have a set now I shouldn't have ordered if anyone wants them :), except of course for the center channel, which would have been nice, at least for my application.
Simply superior to ALL midgrade equipment being sold in big box stores right now, and better than about half of the higher end stuff. No kidding, it really lived up to the professional reviews I read out on the web.
PROS: -Quality-to-Price ratio blows every other option out of the water
-Solid, quality construction and feel (and looks too!)
-Great volume, low distortion
-Comes with mounting brackets (Like and idiot I ordered a set)
CONS: -Not QUITE as crisp and clean as my $1,200 Engegy Takes
-Not QUITE as tuned as my Energys either (but I have weird setup)
-Center channel was only speaker without mounting bracket
-Had to wait three weeks for backorder :)
I have installed the speakers using high quality 12 AWG speaker wire although the runs are relatively short (max 10 feet per). The speakers were easy to connect with the heavy duty push type connectors.
I would highly recommend this system to any one looking for oustanding value. I haven't seen anything at triple this price point that sounds as good as this product.
PROS: The satellite speakers ,centre channel and subwoofer are all well built.
Smooth sounding and precise response.
CONS: No speaker wire, although decent quality wire at a substansial gauge would increase the cost of this already really well priced product.
PROS: Easy connecting to speaker wire, handy wall mounts, great sound! Subwoofer has plenty of power.
