    Amazing speaker for the price.

    Pros: Sound very good

Cons: Not beautiful, wire connectors poor quality.

I bought these after reading reviews on cnet. I didn't believe speakers for less than $30 a pair could sound anything but awful but these sound amazingly good. They are not going to replace my Magnapan 3.6rs in my main system but for listening in another room they great. Better than brand name speakers I paid much more for.

    Ultimate Budget Home Theater Speakers!

    Pros: Price, sound quality

Cons: Spring terminals (they're OK, but posts for banana plugs would be better)

What a deal I got on these speakers! Perfect timing with a Monoprice sale and an addition percent off promotion. I got 3 pair of these 8250, 1 pair of the 3-way 8251, and the 8248 8" powered subwoofer. I have it all hooked up to an Onkyo HT-RC360 and added an Infinity BU1 sub for a full 7.2 setup. The 8251s are the front L/R, and the 8250s are the center, surround, and height speakers. I have about 60 hours of break-in on the 8251a and 30 hours on the 8251s and the sub. All of this was set up using the Audyssey room-correcting auto setup. All of this is in my small home office of about 11'x13'.

I read a lot of reviews, and these 6.5" bookshelf speakers weren't just well reviewed for their price, but just well reviewed. After a little break-in, I did a side-by-side A/B comparison with another "budget" bookshelf speakers I have, Wharfdale Diamond 7.2, that I've had since 1998 for around $199. I did the compare using the Jazz and Classical digital music channels on my cable system, using straight/direct 2-channel stereo output. At first, I could tell no difference switching between the Monoprice and the Wharfdales. Only after more focused listening, was I able to discern a slight improvement in the Wharfdales over the Monoprice. Not bad for speakers that cost 1/10 the cost of the Wharfdales back in 1998 (the current version of the Wharfdale Diamonds are 10.2, and go for $350+). The Wharfdales had a slightly fuller and cleaner sound, but not by much. The 8250s produce a great sound for highs, mids, and bass. Really low bass isn't thunderous, but I didn't expect it to be, and in my application, I have 2 subs to take care of that. Much of the break-in time was done with jazz music. The speakers handle the stand-up bass, horns, guitar, piano, and mallet instruments (vibes, marimba, xylophone) with clarity and no distortion. As a center channel speaker, TV and movie dialog is crystal clear and warm.

I think these 8250s are equally at home in a home theater set up or for 2-channel music. I'd recommend these to anyone! If you like or need powerful bass, add a sub. The 8248 works great! And to think I got 8 speakers and a sub for the same price I would have spent on one pair of Yamaha NS-6490 speakers (very similar to the 8251) that I initially looked at!

Can't beat these for the price

Pros: Sound pretty good. Price. Delivery. Double boxed.

    Cons: None

These are my garage speakers. Running with a nice high current power amp and an old Radio Shack sub.
Really not bad. Little harsh and boxy sounding. Overall a very good value.
I had no problem with the clips. Don't expect super HiFi and you'll be satisfied.

Pros: QUALITY, PRICE, AND SPECIALLY THE SOUND ARE AWESOME!

    Cons: NONE SO FAR.

I BOUGHT TWO PAIRS, ONE FOR MY DAUGHTERS VIDEO GAME AREA AND THE OTHER FOR MY ROOM. I DID NOT EXPECTED TOO MUCH OF THE SOUND QUALITY BECAUSE OF THE SHAPE AND PRICE, BUT I WAS SURPRISED BY IT WHEN I PLUGED TO THE RECEIVER AND EVERYBODY THOUGHT IT WAS 5.1 SURROUND SYSTEM....THE KIDS WERE HAPPY! THANK YOU MONOPRICE!

    These are good... BUT!

Pros: Great sound... used as a center channel speaker because one of the speakers didn't work. The dialog clarity is awesome. The bass is fantastic. At this price range these speakers pack a punch.

P.S - Sibilance is little to very low. (This is the tinny noise, in case you're wondering what it is And this a good thing)

These are a fantastic buy provided that you get 2 working speakers in your set.

Also would recommend Monoprice to make speaker stands for bookshelf speakers.

Cons: Watch out for defective speakers.

You can check them by tapping your finger on the diaphragm. If you get a mild thump then there is a good probability that your speakers are fine..

Would recommend PID 8251 ( http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=109&cp_id=10904&cs_id=1090407&p_id=8251&seq=1&format=2 ) for Left and Right Channel, PID 8250 ( http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=109&cp_id=10904&cs_id=1090407&p_id=8250&seq=1&format=2 ) for Center channel.

Combined with Surround speakers and Subwoofer, this system would give other brands a run for their money
