2-Way Active Wall Mount Speakers (Pair) - 25W - White

Active loudspeakers eliminate the need for a separate power amp providing easier installation options than when using traditional passive speakers. They also have the advantage of having an amp that is custom tuned to the speakers they are driving.

This Monoprice powered stereo loudspeaker is just such a speaker set. It consists of an active loudspeaker with a custom amp built in for one channel and a passive slave loudspeaker for the other, to complete the stereo pair. It is an ideal choice for AV applications such as meeting rooms, multi-media usage, small presentations, and even as a powered speaker for your computer or portable music player. The active loudspeaker package comes with volume and tone controls and built-in a stereo Class D 2x 30 watt amplifiers. They are also magnetically shielded to prevent interference with other devices.

For school projectors and smart boards

Pros: Good price, good quality, internal amplifier, adjustable bass and treble, easy installation

Cons: Slightly tinny, 2x25W, appropriate for moderate sized rooms, hard to access power switch, factory supplied speaker wire for connecting left speaker to right is ~4ft, plan to buy your own additional wire

I bought 22 pair to install in a K-8 school one pair with each smart board/projector. Great product as these are simple, robust, plug&play speakers with internal amplifiers.
I wall-mounted the speakers beside the projector screen and connected the speakers to the teacher's computer headphone jack (using Monoprice 1/8"/3.5mm cables). Now each room has interactive multi-media with good sound. Volume is controlled through the computer's settings. Good coverage for ~600 ft2 rooms.
Would be better if speaker volume and power switch were on the front speaker face.
Factory-supplied speaker wire, used to connect the left speaker to the right, is short plan to buy your own.

Pros: -Easy set up
-Good treble & bass adjustments
-Comes with easy to install wall mounts
-Solid build quality

Cons: All these 'cons' come with the caveat that I have connected the speakers to the source with a Bluetooth receiver from an MP3 source:
-Slight distortion, even at low levels [even with direct connection, i.e. NO Bluetooth]
-Bass lacks definition
-Overall lack of clarity
-Awkward on/off switch when wall mounted
-Provided speaker wire is too short.

I bought these speakers for use in my screened porch- screen on all 4 sides, roof hipped on all 4 sides. I've mounted them high and pointed upward [at the same angle as the roof's pitch]. This allows for a nice, overall ambient sound. There is nice stereo separation, nonetheless. However, I realize that this set up is not optimal for the best sound reproduction.

When I first got the speakers, I hooked up my iPad directly to the speakers, using the supplied connectors and speaker wire. I could hear a good deal of distortion when I cranked the speakers up to the highest volume. With the volume on the speakers to about 75%, I could increase the output of the iPad to 100% with just a bit of distortion. However, I doubt I will ever play the speakers at that level. Still, I was a bit disappointed by the distortion.

When I adjusted the treble and bass, I noticed a significant difference in the sound quality. The treble adjustment was very wide. When the treble was turned up all the way, the clarity was amazing, if not too crisp. This would probably be very fatiguing for listening.

The bass adjustment was similar in that at 100%, the bass response was greatly increased, though the sound was not pleasing. The bass response does not have the clarity and richness that I'd hope for. Considering the size of the bass drivers, it's somewhat understandable. But, so many new portable speakers have impressive bass for their size that I expected better bass from these speakers.

As I mentioned, I mounted these speakers in a screened porch. I use an 'Mpow® Bluetooth 4.0 HD Music Audio Receiver Adapter' to connect my iPad or iPhone wirelessly to these speakers. The sound quality is about the same as when I connected the speakers directly to my iPad. It was at this point that I played a variety of content and discovered that there was always a bit of underlying distortion to the sound coming from the speakers. Not bad enough to make me want to return the speakers, but enough to be a little disappointed. The clarity of the vocals is always a bit fuzzier than I'm accustomed to. Again, it's not bad enough to make me return the speakers.

Overall, I'm okay with the speakers and their sound. They're not audiophile quality by any means. But, for the price and the situation that I'm using them in, I can live with them.

I've had these speakers for almost 2 months now. As I've continued to listen to them, the sound quality is either getting better, or I am becoming used to hearing them. Or, perhaps there is a 'burn in' period of time, like with headphones. In any event, I'm more pleased with the speakers than I was originally.

I wish I could add a star to my review, but I'm not sure how to do that. There isn't any method of doing so in the 'new reply/comment' section of my review.

Good sound, easy installation

Pros: Great sound
Easy mounting with sturdy brackets
Many input options
Excellent value

Cons: none

I installed these speakers in a multipurpose room at church to go with an overhead projector. The room is approximately 25' x 40'. The speakers do a great job projecting from one end of the room to the other.
I was worried that the low price meant poor quality, but that is not the case at all. I'm completely satisfied with them, and if I needed more, would not hesitate to buy again.

Pros: Great price, good sound, easy install, looks great, and powered (no. Amp required)

Cons: Could be a little smaller

I Put these underneath the eaves over the backyard deck, they are excellent, we just plug our ipod in and listen, they are loud enough to keep everyone happy and they look nice.
