Speaker Volume Controller RMS 100W (Rotary Type) - White

This is a rotary-type wall plate volume control for speaker systems with power ratings of up to 100 watts per channel and impedance ratings of 4 to 16 ohms. This rotary control can be set to one of twelve positions, including the minimum (off) and maximum volume settings.

The wall plate mounts into a standard single-gang, low-voltage wall bracket (not included) and has inputs and outputs for one pair of stereo speaker wires (4 input connections and 4 output connections). It can accept speaker wire in sizes from 14 to 16 gauge and provides a frequency response range of 35 Hz to 20 kHz (+0/-2db) at the full power rating of 100 watts per channel.

Please note: This volume control does not include a wall mounting bracket.

Support Files:

Input 2 channels, 100 watts per channel
Output 2 channels, 4 to 16 ohms impedance matching
Frequency Response 35 Hz to 20 kHz (+0/-2 db) at rated power
Wire gauge 14 to 16 AWG
Material Plastic ABS
Depth 2 3/4"

When setting up the speaker volume controls, it is important to match the impedance of your speaker system with the load rating of your amplifier. This is done by setting the jumpers on the volume control to compensate for the number of speakers you have in a parallel configuration and the impedance level of the speakers.

If using a single pair of speakers rated at the same load level as your amplifier, you don't need to make any changes - just leave the jumper in the default x1 position. However, if your speakers are of a different impedance level and/or you have more than one set of speakers in parallel, please refer to the following chart as a guide for setting the jumpers on the speaker volume control.

Note that for any speakers wired in series, the overal impedance level is the sum of each speaker. So two 4 ohm speakers wired in series is the same impedance as a single 8 ohm speaker.

Impedance Correction Chart
Jumper Setting /
# of Speaker Pairs
x1 x2 x4 x8
4 ohm speakers 2 ohms 2 pairs 4 pairs 8 pairs 16 pairs
4 ohms 1 pair 2 pairs 4 pairs 8 pairs
8 ohms n/a 1 pair 2 pairs 4 pairs
8 ohm speakers 2 ohms 4 pairs 8 pairs 16 pairs 32 pairs
4 ohms 2 pairs 4 pairs 8 pairs 16 pairs
8 ohms 1 pair 2 pairs 4 pairs 8 pair
16 ohm speakers 2 ohms 8 pairs 16 pairs 32 pairs 64 pairs
4 ohms 4 pairs 8 pairs 16 pairs 32 pairs
8 ohms 2 pairs 4 pairs 8 pair 16 pairs

Size Does Matter - This One fits well in Single Gang wall bracket

Pros: Fits into single gang - tight squeeze though
Simple look - easy on eyes

None - For Reviews that says it is too big and does not fit - Well they should have read the specs right on this page that says (depth - 2-3/4"). So the size of the unit is not a Con at all.

I received it yesterday and the unit was in the wall within 20 minutes. Sound quality is good and I didn't notice any loss at low freq. at any volume range. IMHO, sound quality is quite rich (but then again this is personla perspective and not a standard). It Will take a little bit time to see long term durability. So I am all happy about this product.
My review is mainly in response to people who says that this is too big and does not fit into a single gang - Really ??? Did you not read the specs. of the product right on this page before you ordered? That simply means you did not do your homework right.
By the way it does fit in the single gang albeit a tight squeeze. The way connectin posts are located on the unit(top and bottom) all 8 wires will fit in the box. You need to run 4 from top (to speakers) and 4 from bottom (from the source). Once in the gang, there is no room for wires on the side but top and bottom have enough clearance - you need to spread wires a little bit. I would suggest that sometime we need to improvize and customize instead of whining and complaining. In my case, no I didn't need to improvize however, if I had to, I would be posting the update on how to do that. Anyway, Thanks Monoprice for another good product.

100 watt Volume Control

Pros: Inexpensive volume control, great sound quality,

Cons: Cheaply made, sloppy feel. Need deep single gang box or better yet open back low voltage box. Ordered two one didn't work properly, but Monoprice shipped me another one without having to return the original. Work well for price and sound is terrific, Would not use these for a customer installation, too many quality control issues. Get what you pay for.

Ordered two of these 100 watt volume controls for my deck speakers, installed one and only worked on one channel, on top of that the knob was very hard to turn. Installed the second one without issues and was pleased with the sound .Monoprice shipped me another to replace the defective one without delay or having to return the original. Make sure you have deep single gang box or better yet an open back low voltage box. As a professional installer I would not
recommend these for a customer installation. Although the price is inexpensive the call back possibility will quickly erode any savings. Very cheaply made, but good sound quality and adequate for light duty use. We will have to see the long term reliability. Very pleased with Monoprice customer service.

Does it's job!

Pros: Does it's job and controls it well.

Cons: Very bulky and takes up a lot of space in wall.

Can't really say I didn't get what I paid for. Was not able to have too much slack in wires. The in and out connection terminals are very small and are in a odd spot which makes it difficult to ensure wires are connected prior to placing into the wall. Unit looks kinda outdated when installing in a new home with flat plates.

Pros: Great price

Cons: Does not fit. Also, the one I got is defective

They do NOT fit into the wall box. The wall box is specifically made for the volume controllers. Thank goodness I can able to get a RMA for my purchase.
