My first unit was defective and Monoprice sent me out a replacement quick. I believe the A/c adapter was faulty but mine has been working flawlessly. FWIW, my first one lasted for a while but luckily the 1 year warranty was still good. Great solution for those that need it!

PROS: Easy return and my second unit has been flawless. A/c power adapter runs cooler this time.

CONS: None, my projector picture never looked so good!

    Works Perfectly
I've been using HDMI extenders for years now. I've tried many brands and have returned many brands because of handshaking/audio issues with my AVR. As far as HDMI extenders go, the MP extender is the best while being good to my wallet. Don't spend $300-500 on others and def don't go too cheap. The build quality is great and it seems like MP knows what they're doing. I'm going to buy another unit for my bedroom unit to replace an older unit.

PROS: -Integrated perfectly with my Onkyo Receiver.

    -Easy to install

-Handles 2D and 3D video flawlessly

    CONS: None at this time

    HDMI® Extender Using Cat5e or CAT6 Cable
Works well with 100ft Monoprice Cat6a patch cable. Good signal and motion on Samsung LED LCD TV.
Product did not produce as good a signal and motion with STP Cat5e - would highly recommend the Cat6a.

PROS: Works well with 100ft Monoprice Cat6a patch cable. Good signal and motion on Samsung LED LCD TV.

CONS: None as of 2 weeks.

    Good solution!
I have a TV in my bedroom that is probably about 80' from my stereo rack. During the initial installation, I planned to use a cat6-based extender. I didn't look into the more expensive options initially, instead trying the cheaper options. These are the things I tried that *didn't* work:

    1. 3 different "HDMI to 2 Cat6 extenders" I tried three different models of this. One of them worked ok, but intermittently at 1080p. As far as I can tell, these devices just split out the HDMI wires across 2 cat6 cables, possibly with a bit of boost or equalization.

    2. I then tried adding a powered HDMI booster at the source end. This made things work better, but still intermittent. Very frustrating to have it work one day and not the next.

    3. Lastly I tried adding a different brand of HDMI booster to the receive end, which also worked, but still intermittently.

At this point I had no solid solution, and I've spent at least $120 on the various parts of the "cheap" option...

Finally, in desperation, I re-looked at the "expensive" options, mainly HD-BaseT. The monoprice option was more than $100 cheaper than the next cheapest option online, so I gave it a shot.

I plugged it in yesterday, and it just worked right away, no boosters necessary, and with only one cat6 cable necessary.

Note that there is going to be a possible performance loss with any 1G ethernet based HD-BaseT solution. An HDMI stream can range up to 5-7Gbs (it's uncompressed), where 1G can only handle a bit less than 1Gbs.

So any current HD BaseT solution is going to have to compress the input stream on the transmitter end, and then decompress on the rcvr. On this unit, the picture looks sharp enough in a bit of basic watching, but this is a bedroom TV, so I can't confirm that the video performance is the same as the original. I will try to watch some HD content to determine if it's good enough.

Also, none of the current options support PoE, so they require power on the receiver end. I am looking forward to 10GBaseT solutions which will be able to send uncompressed video end-to-end along with PoE so nothing extra to plug in behind your wall-mounted TV.

All-in-all, if you have a tough installation and the cheaper options aren't working for you, this is a solid device.

PROS: Worked right off the bat, far more stable than non HD-BaseT extender solutions. Includes IR repeater solution too!

CONS: A bit pricey. Power required at both ends. Possible performance loss (unverified).

    Great
The boxes are about as big as a cigarette pack. Splurge the $1 for the cable mounts and don't staple the wire ( I missed and speared the cat 6 stp twice. It would start then loose signal. Replaced the cat6 and mounted it properly and the signal is great.

PROS: Works great, using at end of 100 ft cat 6 stp from laptop to projector.

CONS: The IR extender goes from screen to source. I would prefer the reverse

    Much better than 8008
I bought a IR distribution block thing to get better IR emitters. I'll have to buy the 2.5 to 3.5 to get that to work now.

The video does NOT cut out when the lights go on! That is a huge plus!

PROS: - No issues sending video 40 ft
    - Does not cut out when the dimmable lights are turned on.

CONS: - IR emitters are ridiculous looking
    - The IR emitter on the sending end of the HDMI uses a 2.5 mm plug.
    - The cable ports are on two sides of the devices

    HDMI extenders
I purchased these extenders to run Cat6 through my wall to my video projector. My run is about 120 feet. so I'm not very close to testing the maximum length. So far my pictures been fantastic I am using it for my Optoma HD 3300, the pitcher has been fantastic even on 3-D. So far so good, I would recommend these to anyone interested in this product. not the cheapest route I probably could've went, but I did not want to keep returning products till I got right.

PROS: The pros are they are very easy to set up, and in my situation seem to work perfect.

CONS: The only con I might think of, is they do get fairly warm but that hasn't seem to cause any problems so far. I've been using them for about 2 months now. If there is any change I will update my review

    HDMI extender
Our problem was moving from a VGA based projection system at our church to a HD system with a live remote controller HD camera and a computer system for display of signage , announcements etc. We had an almost 200' run between the video system in the sound booth and the two 70 " LED panels at the front of the sanctuary. We purchased HDMI extenders, 100' cat6 cables, couplings, and Redmere cables to run from the extender units to the panels. We found using one set and splitting the signal three ways does not work but using an extender pair for each large panel works great. The congregation loves the quality and ambient light is no longer a problem as it is with projectors. This was a great solution for us. I just hope time proves the extenders to be very reliable with many years of service. Monoprice support was excellent and their selection allowed us to color code cables making the installation easier to maintain..

PROS: easy setup, small , does the job, great HD image 1080i. We have seven LED panels around the church and in the sanctuary. We use two of these extender units to feed to 70" HD panels a live HD camera feed or a live computer display ( signage, song lyrics etc.) over cat6 with a net cable run of ~200'. Quality with a Canon G20 is wonderful.

CONS: One of the two extenders failed after running for over a year. The other is still going strong. We just purchased a replacement pair and now the system is back working properly.
    Clear and Easy
Works over a single CAT cable, I had to be close to 350', no trouble at all.

PROS: Works over a single CAT cable, I had to be close to 350', no trouble at all.

    Monoprice HDBaseT works great!
I have ran the gamut of cheaper hdmi extenders (balun type ext powered and hdmi powered) and finally found a solution through mono price. I have 2 runs of Cat5e wire that is about 50ft to my Sony Hw30 projector, one is used for the HDBaseT extender the other one worked for my IR 3D emitter port (surprisingly it works perfectly even though Sony recommends 15m maximum for Cat wire), killed two birds with one stone!!!

I have noticed that my picture being a bit cleaner, maybe a placebo effect, but I did noticed a reduction in motion blur from my projector. Now I can watch all of my films without the aid of Sony's motion flow enhancer. In closing this item works great and if you have interruptions due to lights/HVAC fan coming on, then this is your solution. Thank you monoprice for this product!

PROS: Hooked up and worked perfectly.

CONS: None for product...but I wish I bought this first for my theater room months ago.
