This display utilizes Resistive Touch Screen technology, which allows it to respond to any type of touch, without the need for special gloves or a special stylus. This makes it more intuitive to use by children or in any public environment.

This 17" 4:3 screen uses a standard analog VGA interface, which means it can be used with almost any computer or operating system. It has a maximum display resolutin of 1280x1024 and a touch resolution of 2048 x 2048. The transparency is 80% ± 3% and it is designed to work for more than 35 million touches.

Not so much good to say

Pros: Worked for 2 hours...

Cons: After 2 hours the unit was unresponsive and I couldnt get it to register the touchscreen.

Not impressed.

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues experienced with PID 6959. If I may ask, what OS is the computer running? Were there any changes or updates made to the setup prior to when the touch screen stopped working? Can we test the monitor with a different USB cable? What about with a different USB port just to see if the issue persists? Also, can we try uninstalling the drivers and installing the most up-to-date ones listed here?:

I recommend leaving the monitor's USB cable disconnected until the drivers have fully installed and the computer has been restarted. Please let me know your results from there so we can look into this matter further. My apologies again for the trouble and I hope this helps!

Pros: Very good monitor for the price. I use them for POS stations in Bars and the size and video quality make them ideal for this purpose

Cons: Very bouncy, the stand could be more stable

Overall a very good monitor for the price and great for POS use.These monitors are on 16 hours a day and I have had only one back light failure and that was after 3 years of constant use.The only complaint I have is the base is not heavy enough to prevent the monitor from bouncing when being used, in most cases I have been able to place the monitor in such a way that it is supported to reduce this affect.

Dead after a year and a half

We bought this for a sign in machine in our lobby. It was on for roughly 11 hours a day for a year and a half. The screen was always a little rough. It flickers just a little, the pixels are large enough to be noticeable, and the light is a little dimmer than we would like.

A week ago the back light just stopped working. Power cycling it brings the screen back on. We figured we would just buy a new one. Every day for the past week we open Monoprice and we see the same thing. Out of stock, expected today. Every day for a week!

I contacted support, they said I should sign up to be notified when it arrives, but otherwise said the ETA is today, which is obviously incorrect. So now we have a dying screen and no idea when we will be able to replace it.

Pros: Pretty Cheap
Works decently

Cons: Dead at 2 years
Not the sharpest display
Touch is never perfectly accurate

We bought this display to use logging in visitors. It worked pretty good, but we had to redesign the login app to keep away from the edges, they don't register well within 1/2" of the sides.

2 years of being on from 6AM until 8PM has killed the display. The backlight dies on a regular basis requiring a cooldown time before it dimmly comes back on.

Pros: Inexpensive, stylish, non bulky, functional for the length of warranty (just), very good picture, makes good desk monitor when the touch invariably breaks.

Cons: Lasts between 9 and 18 months, constant alignment issues, unstable, bouncy stand, fragile USB connector, failing power supplies.

This is a very good looking, initially good performing device. They work quite well as desk monitors, I now have four in my office whose touch function is broken or beyond the hope of realignment. I have sold point of sale, automation, kiosk, and similar hardware for over ten years and have never come across such a bad product.

I ordered a few for some of my budget oriented customers, thinking an inexpensive new product would be better than used or refurbished machinery. I can't believe how wrong I was, now that I have had serious trouble with 5 out of 9 of these monitors that I have handled.

I have had to resort to repairing them myself (broken USB connectors), replacing the crappy stands out of my own pocket, and even replacing them with other products due to perpetual alignment and calibration users also out my own pocket.

Monoprice support refuses to bend a warranty by even enough time to adjust for difference between the purchase date and the date the device was actually unboxed and put into service. I am about to take this up with my credit card company, as these monitors are clearly a violation of basic warrant of merchantability, which is a federal law which cannot be disclaimed.
