    4 Channel Ground Loop Isolator

Isolate and eliminate noise caused by a ground loop in an audio circuit with this Four-Channel Ground Loop Isolator.

The isolator ensures that the shield ground on each audio cable is isolated from any equipment ground, which could cause audible noise when amplified. This device has four channels, composed of two pairs of stereo (L+R) inputs and outputs.

The nominal DC impedance of the device is 100 ohms and the audio impedance is 3500 ohms at 1000 Hz. The nominal input power is 50 watts, with a maximum power level of 100 watts.

Each of the RCA plugs and jacks is gold-plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. The unit measures 3.9" x 2.0" x 0.9" (100 x 50 x 22 mm) and both the input and output leads measure 9" in length.

Note: The packaging erroneously indicates that the isolator's case is made of metal. It is in fact made of plastic. We are working to correct this discrepancy and apologize for any confusion or inconvenience it may cause.

    Pros: DOA

    Cons: I'll never know!

Arrived quickly. Looks great for the price. Installed between TV and computer audio input. Didn't work. No continuity in conductor. RMA'd. Replacement a bit difficult to get started but I'm told replacement on the way. In the meantime source of noise located and eliminated so it will be save "just in case". Lots of problems getting into web site to secure RMA but eventually got done after several tries over 3 days.

Added a buzzing sound to the alternator wine. Maybe I got a defective item?

    Hi Raf,

Thank you for your review on PID 6909. If I may ask, can you explain to me how this ground loop isolator is being used? What devices is it connected to? Are there any additional items in the setup such as adapters and/or converters? What was the issue before this isolator was added? Please let me know so we can best assist you in resolving this matter. My apologies for the trouble and thank you in advance.

It was hooked up to a 4 channel amp - right at the amplifier. I disconnected the 4 rca cables that were connected to the amp and hooked them up to the isolator. Then hooked up the isolator to the amplier. This is for a car audio application.

The issue before was a slight alternator whine (ie. whine that could be heard through the speakers and increases as engine rpm increases). The whine started after I replaced a higher quality head unit with a lower quality one so I believe the whine is coming from the head unit.

After installing the isolator, the whine was still present but there was and additional buzzing sound when the engine was on.

Got it. Just to verify, are any of the RCA cables ran near any type of power? Such as, are they being ran next to the power wire of the amplifier even for just a couple of inches? If so, please run them to opposite sides of the car as that is the main cause of this type of issue. If the buzzing is still occurring, can we check the ground on the amplifier to make sure it is connected to bare metal rather than to a bolt or other metal item that has paint on it? Please let me know your results from there. If the problem persists, please include the brand of the radio so I can look into this further. Thank you!

The power cables are running on the other side of the car already. The amps are grounded to bare metal.

There was no whine with the previous radio. The new on is an android 2 din radio by a company called HuiFei. It's probably not the best unit in term of noise isolation so I'm pretty sure the whine is coming from the head unit. The ground noise isolator should be able filter that out, but it's not.

I see. I know you mentioned that the whine got louder as the RPM increased, but does the whine also get louder/lower as the radio volume is adjusted?

Another troubleshoot we can try is to remove the ground loop isolator from the setup so the RCA cables are connected directly. Next, take a small piece of wire and strip the ends. Ground one end of the wire then have the other end touch the outer barrel of one of the RCA cables. Once connected, please test the setup. Does the whine completely shut off or does it get louder?

Another cheap quality piece from monoprice. Looks off brand but works perfectly. Used in a 98 C280 Mercedes with an after market Kenwood CD player. Cancels all noise and interference in one instead of usually 2 box's.

Item does what it is supposed to do. The shipping time to get this was too long in my opinion. If I want something quickly I'll use ebay or amazon.
