Pen issues with Mac OS

Cons: Pens not working tablet not responding. Did all troubleshooting.

I have a larger 12x9 tablet that works great on my various Mac OS computers and purchased this for traveling. Unfortunately after all kinds of troubleshooting this one only responds intermittently to either of the pens. It's a pain to return so might as well use it as a place mat. One of my first Monoprice failures

Hi Lagsun,

Thank you for your review on PID 5553. I am truly sorry to hear about the pen issues experienced with this tablet. I see that you already have an RMA for a replacement in progress. As soon as you receive the new pen and have had a chance to use it, please feel free to reply back to this review with an update. My apologies again for any inconvenience and please let me know if there is anything that I can assist you with!

Pros: Easy to use. Any problems I found with it were generally easily fixable myself.

Cons: Work space to screen ratio kept resetting itself every time I restarted my computer, even with the latest upgraded drivers and service pack on my 8.1 device.

I had mine for a good few years, and it finally died today. It did an amazing job for an inexpensive tool. The bamboo fun I had only lasted me three years, the Kanvus I switched to after that, only a year.

Throughout it's four years of service, my monoprice endured being toted around to and from school and events. The liftable plastic cover had a break in it that was was fixed easily with packing tape. The same cover was warped when someone decided it was a great idea to serve me my plate on my tablet while I was taking a break from working on a commission, but even that didn't cause it to stop. It had a couple of splits in the outer protective shell that gave me the opportunity to customize it with patterned ducktape, because the splits were only an aesthetic problem, and the pen that came with it popped open frequently after the first two years, but after buying a new one I didn't have to worry about that problem anymore. Even cats perching on it didn't cause any problems in responsiveness. Aside from the one pain in the back side that was having to go in and reset the workspace to screen ratio, which honestly I didn't really mind, I have nothing but praise for tihs tablet.

The only way I could possibly give this tablet a higher rating is if it somehow managed to replace itself. Four years is a LOT more than I thought I'd get out of it. I'd been skeptical of it at first but I can honestly say this was the best gift I've ever been given, and if I had money I'd buy it again, and I feel like now that I'm in a location where my belongings are respected, a replacement would last even longer. Honestly when I hear my artist friends are looking into a new tablet, I direct them here first, because my experience has been so great. Why spend two hundred dollars on a tablet when you can get the same thing for thirty or forty dollars, and potentially have it last longer.

A really great product all in all.

Pros: As advertisedor better.
Don't know if it always does, but this one came with 2 pens.

Cons: Still exploring. I'm not an artist, just having funand it is fun!

So far this tablet seems to be as advertised and all I expectedor better. Don't know if it always does, but this one came with 2 pens. Using My Paint as software (free and downloadable from the Internet) and apparently most options work. I'm happy with this purchase, and with Monoprice's fast delivery.

Pros: Great tablet all around!

Cons: Not sure if it is my fault or what, but the pressure sensitivity doesn't work in PhotoShop.

Great tablet other than the PhotoShop problem. Please help me, I really want to use it with PhotoShop. Thanks!

Thank you for your review. Regarding pressure sensitivity with Photoshop you can try the following:

1. Open up Adobe Photoshop and create a New Document of any size by going through File > New.
2. Open your Brush Preferences (Window > Brushes).
3. Make sure that Shape Dynamics is turned on and that it is set to Pen Pressure.

This allows the tablet’s pressure sensitivity to respond to how hard or soft you press on the tablet with the pen. Please let me know if that changes anything. Hope this helps!
