6-1/2 Inches 3-Way High Power In-Wall Speaker (Pair)
Monoprice brings custom in-wall speakers to new levels of affordability with our line of Monoprice Brand Premium in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. These new high fidelity units deliver the high quality craftsmanship and construction you've come to expect from Monoprice brand products at a fraction of what you would expect to pay for them retail.
In-wall and in-ceiling speakers allow you to expand your listening environment throughout your entire home as well as remove the clutter of giant box speakers giving you back your living space. In either case it's a win-win situation for those who desire high fidelity and those who put emphasis on decor.
Kevlar cones are light weight yet extremely rigid providing very precise audio with minimal distortion normally caused by cone flex. Our Kevlar speakers are matched with an equally precise silk membrane dome tweeter made of titanium fiber thread and a high quality crossover network to ensure high fidelity and low distortion. The lower distortion levels allow the speaker to be driven harder and handle higher peak power levels. The main benefit our Kevlar speakers are the clarity and fidelity at which they produce audio.
• Light & rigid, Round in shape, well balanced, Yellow Woven Kevlar Cone Woofers for distortion free reproduction.
• Oversized Magnets for more impactful bass. • Precision Silk Membrane Dome Tweeters for sweeter highs and pure sonic clarity.
• Adjustable Crossover switch allows you to match the speakers to the sonic characteristics of your listening environment and the location in which you place them.
• With a maximum of 160W of Amplified Power Capacity ensures that these drivers won't be overdriven or easily blown out.
• 8 Ohms Standard Impedance ensure they can be safely driven by even the most modest home theater receivers.

Pros: Excellent sound quality for in-wall speakers. Great mid-range. Pleasant/clear upper range (without sounding fatiguing). Unreal value.
Cons: Wall mount brackets aren't as nice as some other in-walls I have had.
First - I rarely write reviews. I only write reviews when I really like/dislike something. These, I really like. I would have docked a point for the wall mount brackets, which with anything beyond a small amount of torque, will strip and the screws will spin. That said, after stripping the first 2 screws, I got a sense for the torque required, and they all went it fine thereafter (though not confidence inspiring). Nonetheless, I simply cannot dock a point given the amazing sound quality and incredible value. Seriously. I have owned a ton of speakers in my day. One might call me an audiophile (or technophile). I have my own computer based music studio. I've been around music and musicians my entire life. I have owned everything - From Bose/Energy/MTX to Mackie (Studio Reference Monitors)/Paradigm Studio Series. In fact, I had my Paradigm Studio 20s in my bedroom (where I put these Monoprice speakers in a 5.1 setup). Frankly, I was preparing myself to be seriously disappointed. Well, guess what? I wasn't. In fact, I was very surprised. They sound great. So much so, that I regret the set of on-wall KEFs I bought last week for my living room (due to WAF - Wife Acceptance Factor). Anyway, Monoprice deserves a lot of credit for these. I just hope all of these great reviews don't go to their heads, and they end up jacking the prices (At least not until I get my 5.1 in-wall setup for my gym and my living room - to replace the KEFs).

Pros: Price, ease of installation, sound quality.
Cons: Spring loaded terminals.
After a lot of research on the Monoprice site, reading reviews and searching other options, I chose four of the 7607 6.5" 3-way for my front and rear speakers for a 5.1 surround system in the living room. I also chose the 4881 5.25" center channel speaker as part of the set up. The sub-woofer was a left over of my entire Polk system (powered sub-woofer). I am driving these with a Denon AVR-1800 unit. I mounted all the speakers in the ceiling it was a bit of work removing a few sections of old lath-and-plaster from the ceiling between ceiling joists, running speaker wire for each location, replacing the ceiling openings with ½" drywall, then cutting out the drywall for the openings. I chose the 7607's because they are 3-way and I listen to music as well as watch movies and because they closer match the width of the 4881, making for a uniform look when the center channel and front left/right speakers were installed. I chose not to paint the faces and grills they look just fine in white contrasted to the ceiling paint in the room. The sound of this set up is excellent. The center channel is placed about 24" from the front wall, centered on the flat screen TV. The frequency range is very good for movies and music. The sub woofer fills in the low frequencies well. My only complaint is the spring loaded terminals on the speakers would prefer to have seen screw terminals for a more secure and reliable connection. These speakers are an outstanding value - the price performance cannot be beat!
Wowjust installed four of these with a Monoprice center channel for my home theater system. Amazing sound, esp. for the price! In my old home, I installed 6-1/2" Klipsch in-wall speakers that ran $250+ per speaker. This time around, I went with Monoprice and am blown away with the quality of the sound. I'm doing a whole house system and will be putting 8 pairs of these across the house. Of course, you'll need a sub for the lows, but that's to be expected with a 6-1/2 speaker.

Great Speakers But Really Heavy!
Pros: Great sound, easy to mount.
Cons: These are extremely heavy.
I tried to install these in my drop down ceiling and they were just too heavy. The faceplate is huge so check the specifications before you buy these.
