6-1/2 Inches Kevlar 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers (Pair) - 60W Nominal, 120W Max.

Monoprice brings custom in-wall speakers to new levels of afforability with our line of Monoprice Brand Premium in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. These new high fidelity units deliver the high quality craftsmanship and construction you've come to expect from Monoprice brand products at a fraction of what you would expect to pay for them retail.

In-wall and in-ceiling speakers allow you to expand your listening environment throughout your entire home as well as remove the clutter of giant box speakers giving you back your living space. In either case it's a win-win situation for those who desire high fidelity and those who put emphasis on decor.

Kevlar cones are light weight yet extremely rigid providing very precise audio with minimal distortion normally caused by cone flex. Our kevlar speakers are matched with an equally precise silk membrane dome tweeter made of titanium fiber thread and a high quality crossover network to ensure high fidelity and low distortion. The lower distortion levels allow the speaker to be driven harder and handle higher peak power levels. The main benefit our Kevlar speakers are the clarity and fidelity at which they produce audio.

Note that you can improve the bass response and overall sound quality of in-ceiling speakers by using an enclosure. The Monoprice In-Ceiling Back Enclosure (PID 11941) is designed for use with this speaker.

  • Light and rigid, well balanced, yellow woven Kevlar Cone Woofers for distortion free reproduction
  • Oversized magnets for more impactful bass
  • Precision titanium silk membrane dome tweeters for sweeter highs and pure sonic clarity
  • Pivoting tweeters allow you to point the acoustics to the prime listening position for a more accurate and immersive sonic experience
  • Adjustable crossover switch allows you to match the speakers to the sonic characteristics of your listening environment and the location in which you place them
  • 60W nominal and 120W maximum power handling capacity ensure that these drivers won't be overdriven or easily blown out
  • 8 ohms standard impedance ensure they can be safely driven by even the most modest home theater receivers

Surprisingly high quality speakers

Pros: -Quality sound with good high-end clarity and low-end warmth
-Capable of being very loud
-Good dispersion
-Easy installation (I used a phillips screwdriver, a small hand saw, and a file and it was fine)
-Fantastic price

Cons: None at all.

These speakers are way clearer, richer, and louder than I was expecting. For $47, these are an absolute steal. By night I'm a musician/audio engineer, by day an IT guy - and I setup my company's conference room with these speakers to replace the horrible sound quality we were getting from our projector and TV speakers. While these are not super-balanced reference monitors or anything, they have a clear, but rich profile and do a great job of sound dispersion so it's a good volume all throughout the conference room. Additionally, once mounted in the ceiling, the bass is much more present. When I was test listening on my table, the low end sounded thin and weak, but ceiling mounted they're much fuller and sound real good. If you're doing home cinema or anything, get a sub, but for general background music, and such, the bass on these is more than capable. Also, they feel a bit heavy, but the mounting is very stable, and easy to do, so even in regular ceiling tiles with no extra support other than built in mounting system that's part of these speakers, they are solid and not stressing the ceiling's load capabilities. Really solid product.

Good value

Pros: affordable. Kevlar woofers. Silk dome tweets.

Cons: grill a little hard to get off. limited swivel on tweets.

have to buy 6 speakers for a 5.1 system.

Ceiling speakers are not the audiophile way to listen to music, but is sure is nice not to have to deal with all the cords. The speakers sound good, especially when paired with a subwoofer.

If there's a better value out there, I'm not sure where you'd find it.

Pros: Inexpensive, easy to install, good sound

Cons: no banana plug input (if i have to pick something)

I put 4 of these in my newly build home in Illinois. I just put 6 of these in my newly built home in Florida. 2 of them outside (in the lanai ceiling). I recommend these to myself and friends.

Easy Setup, Adequate Sound in Church Installation

Pros: - Easy to install in drop-tile ceiling. We removed the tiles for easy cutting, but it could be done without removing or access to the back of the tile.
- Hole template was provided
- Easy mounting brackets that hold tight

Cons: - Template does not make it possible to find center of the hole easily
- Sound is a bit tin-y, but it is adequate for our install

We installed these in our church hallway outside of the main sanctuary for sound reinforcement. One pair was installed and connected to our architectural amplifier (which drives several 8ohm speakers). We daisy-chained the speakers using only one run from the amp and it works fine. The sound lacks substantial low-end range, but for reinforcement in our situation, it works fine. These were very easy to install in a drop-tile ceiling, and I imagine they'd be easy in other situations.
