Samsung Galaxy Note II CaseDuo HD Media Dock - Black

You know what is better than watching the stunning, 1080p video on your Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone? Watching that same video on your big-screen TV using this CaseDuo HD Media Dock from Monoprice!

This media dock is designed to provide a perfect fit to your Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone, whether it has a case installed or not. The dock has a plastic insert, which when installed provides a perfect fit if no case is present, and when removed provides a perfect fit with most types of cases installed on the phone.

While the dock can charge your phone, the primary value is the built-in MHL adapter, which converts the 1080p video from the phone's micro USB port into an HDMI® signal for direct output to any HDMI capable display or repeater. The dock supports all High Speed HDMI features, including 7.1-channel audio and 3D video.

While using an ordinary MHL adapter with the Samsung Galaxy Note II normally requires a special 11-to-5 pin micro USB adapter, the adapter is already built into this dock, so all you need to do is plug your phone into the dock to get MHL connectivity.

The dock measures about 3.5" wide, 2.9" deep, and 2.4" high. It is powered by a micro USB connection and comes with a 40" power-only micro USB cable and single-port, 1000mA USB wall charger. An HDMI port on the back of the dock connects directly to any HDMI display or repeater device using a High Speed HDMI cable (not included).

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues experienced with PID 10255. I see that you have already started an RMA for a replacement. Before you send it in, there are a few troubleshooting steps we can try to ensure it is not the dock. If I may ask, what length HDMI cable was tried? Does this happen with other HDMI cables as well? Was the power supply plugged in for the dock? Can we try another display? Also, can we try restarting the Note II to see if that makes any difference?

Great Dock

Pros: Fits the Galaxy Note 2 perfect. The power adapter and usb cable work perfect. No issues as of yet.

Cons: None that I can think of, no problems have occurred just yet.

This dock works well and does what it is supposed to do, very good. I haven't had any issues with it while using it, although I wish it had an extra slot to charge a battery to be charged at the same time.. but that's just me being greedy. The product is great, and it works very very well like I said. Of course some people might encounter problems with it, but I have yet to do so.. I highly recommend it, and for the price... it's well worth it.

Pros: Easy installation. Just plug the power supply to an AC outlet then to the dock DC input. Then connect your HDMI cable to any of your TV HDMI inputs and then to the docking station HDMI output. Insert your phone into the docking station and you are almost ready to go.

Cons: Like I said before, you are almost ready to go because what you'll have on your TV screen is a mirror screen of your phone's home screen. That means that if you are trying to watch a video or a movie you'll only be able to watch it on desk mode not on landscape (full screen) mode. You then have two options. 1. You'll have to flip your phone/dock on one side (which I don't think you want to and I don't recommend it either) it may damage your phone's micro usb connector. 2. You'll need to download an app in order to keep your screen on landscape mode when docked.

I heard some people complaining about the same issue with the original Samsung's Hub docking station ($99.00). So, if you only want to watch some movies and video clips through your TV screen, for less than $20.00 plus a free app to manage the screen position you can't go wrong with this one.
