Great ceiling mount, with a great price, Service is excellent. I have never had a problem with any of the orders

PROS: Love them, they are easy to install, price is uncomparable to any other site on line. Quality is top notch. I was paying at least double for the same mount. Service excellent. Have not had any problems with any orders from MonoPrice. My company will continue to buy from MonoPrice

    Good product
Bought one of these along with the 3900 mount to hang a 55" LCD (80 lbs) above a stone fireplace. I also installed a 4006 (Recessed Low Voltage Cable Wall Plate WITH Recessed Power) in the ceiling next to the mount for power and hook up cables.

I knew I would have to shorten the mount when I ordered it. I made quick work of shortening it with an air cut off tool and a drill press. You could do it with a hack saw and hand drill, although the tubing is thick enough you'll get a work out.

I also needed so span some structure (I used 2 pieces of 2x4 on edge) between the trusses to carry the weight. By cutting the hole for the wiring and electrical I was able to measure and pre-position the 2x4s before ever going into the attic. I also stuffed all the tools I would need up through that hole. That way I was able to do the whole job with only one trip across the trusses to work on it.

Fishing the cables through the tube was a challenge because the hole in the side is rather small. I had to use a small dental pick type tool to pull the cables out the hole and the connectors on the HDMI and power cord made for a very tight fit. This would probably be easier if you fed the cable in the bottom of the mount and out the top but I'd already run them into the attic from the shelf where the components are located.

    PROS: Sturdy
    Great Price

CONS: Too long for standard residential ceiling - you should have your supplier make one that is shorter.

Opening in side of tube for cable is pretty small. Tough to fish the power cord and HDMI connector through there.

Be aware that the down pipe will flex because the TV hangs off the side. My 80lb. TV ended up with a minimum down angle of about 5 degrees (even with the shortened pipe)

    Nice product for the money
I used one of these with a 3900 to hand a 55" LCD from the ceiling in front of a stone fire place.

I knew when I purchased I'd have to shorten it. I made quick work of it with an air cut off tool and a drill press. Could use hacksaw and hand drill but the tubing is thick enough to make it a bit of a work out.

Of course where I wanted it on the ceiling was between 2 trusses. Pretty easy to do by spanning between the trusses with a couple pieces of 2x4 on edge and lag screwing them into the trusses.

Fishing the cables through the tube was tough because the hole in side of the tube is small for the power and HDMI connectors. It'd probably be easier if you started at the bottom and fed the cables up, but I'd already run my stuff through the attic. A little tugging with a dental pick did get the connectors through the hole. The RG-6 and TOSLINK are small enough they weren't a problem.

Because the TV hangs off the side the tube is going to curve and you will not get a horizontal install. With my 80lb TV this results in about a 5 degree down angle with the 3900 set to horizontal. With the full length tube it'd be more. Not a problem for my installation because we wanted some down angle. If you want true horizontal this is not the mount to use.

    PROS: Outstanding price.

CONS: Too long for residential ceilings
Opening in side of pipe for cables is a bit small.

    Great products, fantastic price!
I love working with Monoprice. I find everything I need in, even better than I imagine it. I'm not a contractor, so my project was one-of-a-kind, but I still got it done efficiently and attractively thanks to Monoprice.

    PROS: Sturdy, streamlined, professional-looking.

CONS: Was a little too long for my particular needs, but I modified and it still looks professional and works great!

    Simple & Sturdy
These are simple to install with the recommended wall bracket and bolt easily to the ceiling (or rafters). They only come with one bolt for setting the height or length, so I purchased extras at a local hardware store so I could double up. I like how they have an access hole in the tube and clearance in the top plate so you can run cable through them rather than tying it to the side. I purchased six total, and one arrived with a bent bolt on the bottom (used to lock the swivel), but at the price, it was easiest to just buy a replacement.

PROS: Easy to install, sturdy construction

CONS: Received 1 (out of 6) with a bent swivel bolt, only tack welded to the top plate (but the tube is also flared).

    No complaints
Worked like a champ, can't beat the price.

I had a minor beef with the giant footprint of the bracket's mounting plate. The mounting plate is VERY wide (like 4+ inches), which makes it fairly impractical to mount on the ceiling of the average house - the 4 mounting holes will never line up on a 2x4 stud. As a workaround, I had to put up a 1" thick by 24" long board, countersink the plate's mounting bolts, bolt the bracket to the board, and then screw the board into the ceiling studs with 10 screws. Eh... it did the trick, but could have been a lot better.

On a side note... maybe it's just the fact that I'm a dumbass, but I saw the product listing to mean "30-inch or above sized televisions". Instead, the extension itself is a minimum of 30 inches.

    WOW!
Works great as a ceiling mount. It can also be flipped around and used to suspend a TV above a TV stand or dresser. I will post photos on my Blog. www.diyht.tv
