Excellent construction, but the pole is simply too long for all but the tallest ceilings. Most will use this pole to mount a TV very close to the ceiling, tilting down for correct viewing. I had to cut the upper pole to make it short enough AND had to drill new holes for the retaining bolt to get the length right. Use a standard hack saw to cut the pole - fairly quick and easy with a new blade. Drilling is tougher - use a small metal penetrating drill bit to make a starter hole, then use the larger drill bit to accomodate the size of the retaining bolt. I mounted this to a Monoprice 3004 tilting wall bracket for a 50 Pioneer plasma. The 3007 pole and 3004 bracket fit perfectly. The top bolts must fit through the mount into ceiling joists. I cut a 2x8 section and mounted it across two ceiling joists. Then I mounted the pole through the 2x8 section using hardened bolts and nuts. This allowed me to place the ceiling bracket exactly where I wanted it. This is a several hour project, especially if you have to cut and drill the pole!

I searched all over for a ceiling mount for my 52 Sharp Aquos LCD. I hung this from the joists above my drop ceiling in my rec room. I had to get a little creative by using two unistrut brackets between the joist span, but it all worked out. The only reason this is not a 10 is for two minor reasons....the tube comes in two parts (for extension) and has holes to bolt through. The holes did not accommodate for how short I needed it, so I had to drill a hole through both sides. The silver finish also scratches a little too easily, but the TV covers most of it anyway. You need to get a tilting wall bracket to attach to this unit, but that is the easiest part. Very pleased with this item and YOU CANNOT BEAT THIS PRICE!
