Noise Cancelling Headphone w/ Active Noise Reduction Technology

The world is so full of noise that it can be difficult to find the quiet you need to concentrate or to enjoy your favorite music. When you need to block out the sounds of the world, you need a pair of Noise Cancelling Headphones from Monoprice!

These headphones have been designed to provide superior noise cancellation, leaving a quiet, empty soundstage in which to experience your favorite music. Additionally, they can be used without any musical or audio content when what you need most of all is peace and quiet. The Active Noise Reduction circuity will eliminate almost all external sounds, giving you the quiet you need to think and concentrate.

The ANR circuitry is powered by a single AAA battery (included), which can power it for up to 50 hours. The headphones can also be used in passive mode, without the ANR circuitry enabled, which gives you excellent musical reproduction, while allowing you to hear some of the environment around you.

The headphones come with 55" audio cable with an inline microphone and control module, a 58" standard audio cable with a 90-degree connector on one end, a headphone/microphone splitter for use with PCs, a 3.5mm to 1/4" plug adapter, and and airline plug adapter. They are packaged in a luxury "hardshell" zippered nylon storage case, which includes a nylon mesh internal pocket for the included cables and accessories. The carry case includes a D-ring, which can be used to attach a strap (not included) or to secure it to a backpack.

I quite like them for the sound and ANC, some design improvements suggested

Pros: very good sound/ANC, amazing for the price
    comfortable

    Cons: Not so fashionable
    Should be sturdier
Folding mechanism seems easy to break

The sound is very good. Just to be clear I'm not an "audiophile" but the sound is very full and detailed to me. I hear things in the music I didn't pick up on before. The sound cancelling is better than my old Velodyne vQuiet. I have a noisy fan case by my work station and these make it much less intrusive.
As for the build quality, they are much sturdier than my Monoprice DJ headphones but I would be more satisfied with slightly heavier/thicker plastic being used. They lack that "solid" feel I think I should get for almost a hundred bucks.
I don't like the way they fold for travel. The ear pieces twist, in one direction only, so that it lays flatter and is more structurally sound in the case. I'm always worried I'm going to break them twisting them the wrong way too hard before realizing it. It should be bi-directional. Or better yet, fold like Monoprice's new bluetooth brushed metal headphones.
The way they look when wearing them is a bit off too. There are these huge corners sticking out at the sides instead of curving with my head.

Actually if you could take the sound and noise cancelling performance of these headphones and put them into the very fashionable design and what appears to be strong build of Monoprice's brushed metal bluetooth headphones (and maybe toss in the bluetooth as well -) ) these would be amazing hundred dollar, maybe even $125, headphones. Note to Monoprice: if you do make a headset like that, I wouldn't say no to a free unit as a thank you for the idea.

But as it is these are nice headphones with very good sound/ANC in sub-par (for the price) housing.

Also, has MP considered offering skins like carbon-fiber, woodgrain, colors, animal prints, etc. (all with MP's logo of course) for your headphones?

    Disappointed

    Pros: Nice looking phones
    Superb packaging
    Accessories

Cons: Tonal quality changed when using the ANR switch from bad to worse.
Sound reminded me of a radio playing in a well.
Bass was boosted by about 10db

Sound quality was not up to par. Bass was artificial, vocals were not distinct. Tried with android phone, stereo receiver and computer. Played a dozen different songs. Preferred the sound of my old Sony headphones at a fraction of the cost.

    Cons: Inline mic not working.

They are really good at cancelling static noise and a decent headphones overall in terms of build and sound. But i am facing a issue with using the inline mic with my windows pc. I am using the internet adapter to plug in the inline mic cable to my pc. So, the mic should work but thats not the case. And my earbuds with mic works fine with my pc. I dont know what i am missing.

They work great but fall apart

Pros: Good sound, noise cancelling really works

Cons: Cheaply made, fall apart for anything more than super casual use.

I have had 2 pairs the first the cheap cord broke at the plug after 1 month use. Monoprice replaced at no cost that's the good news Monoprice is legit. The second pair the ear pads are falling apart the seam that holds the fake leather together is fused not stitched so in will not hold up to normal use. I wish Monoprice would fix the design even charge a few bucks more for better quality. They sound great I used them all the time when I travel.

Good but not Great - but for budget-conscience person, they will do fine!

    Pros: Price
    Sound
    Noise-cancelling

Cons: Sound (if you are picky)
Comfort (after about 2 hours, it just hurts to wear them).
Headband may be a little too short and cause discomfort if it rides on your head.

I am not sure of the guidelines for comparing products but if I overstep, let me know and I will rewrite. Since 2004, I have owned 3 sets of B*** noise cancelling headphones: Models **-2, **-15, **-25. So this is a review and a comparison to my new Monoprice headphones. My **-15 was wearing out so I planned to buy this Monoprice model to use when I travel on planes and the **-15 to mow my lawn (I was using the **-15 for both which contributed to the "wearing out"). But before I ordered this pair, the **-15 died and I bought the **-25 (certain trade-in discount). That is all preamble to say my comparison is between Monoprice and B*** **-25 but I have experienced the other B*** models as well.
Sound: B*** is better but for listening to music or a book on tape while mowing lawn, that doesn't matter (and I am not an audiophile so I may not have even noticed difference if I hadn't compared side-by-side)
Noise-cancelling: I could not tell any difference (at least in my lawnmower test).
Comfort: The **-25 are lighter and have a larger headband so are more comfortable longer (8 hour trip to Europe last week). I would compare Monoprice model comfort to that of my first B*** model **-2. After a while (2 hours for me), they just hurt and I have to take them off and rub my head around my ears for a few minutes before I put them back on.
Case: Monoprice case is about the same size at B*** **-2 and **-15 cases. The new **-25 model folds smaller.
If you are on a tight-budget, buy these. If you decide you want two pairs, one for travel and one for mowing the lawn, buy these and the B*** **-25.
