Cat6 Inline Coupler Type Keystone Jack - White

Easy to use coupler style keystones allow you to use RJ45 terminated cables in the front and the back eliminating the need to splice wires while standing behind a rack. You can use pre-terminated fix length cables as well, eliminating the need for crimping. Fits all standard keystone wall plates and panels.

    Strange Failure Rate
I bought 16 of these in 2011 and almost half have died over time.

I was thinking of ordering more to replace the broken ones but hesitated since its not clear if Monoprice found a new manufacturer for them and/or fixed whatever was wrong with their reliability.

From my testing, the contacts inside the coupler seem to crack or disconnected. If you apply pressure in a certain direction, the connection seems to reappear, but as soon as you stop applying pressure, the connection is broken.

Its strange since it doesn't seem that complicated of a device (its a coupler) to expect such poor reliability. My use (which I suspect is the same as most) is not very frequent. Once I've installed them into the outlet, I make the connection once and leave it alone. They seemed to break once they were disconnected from the wall (I replaced a network switch) which seems absurd as I could count on 1 hand how many times I connected / re-connected the cable.

I've never had an issue with Monoprice products before this and hope it gets fixed as its certainly making me doubt what I buy here. If it does get fixed, please make a note on the description to inform your customers.

    PROS: Great connection and concept.

    CONS: Ridiculously high failure rate.

    Won't negotiate to 1gb
Ordered 5 of the couplers when I purchased some new cat6e cable for my house. None of them will negotiate at 1gb and always negotiate at 100mb.

Like other reviews have stated, the plastic housing is extremely cheap and they sound like they are going to break every time you plug/unplug a cable. Unfortunately it's not worth returning them since I paid $9 for all 5 and after shipping them back there would be no point.

First monoprice item I have been unhappy with. Save your money and purchase keystone adapters instead.

    PROS: 100mb negotiation works

CONS: Will not negotiate at 1gb

    Cheap plastic housing

This was exactly what I wanted, and I was able to get it for considerably less than if I had opted to buy elsewhere - either online or at a store. Excellent product, and I would consider buying more in the future.

    PROS: Cheap
    Worked

    CONS: None

I bought a couple extra when I first purchased these (because they were inexpensive and you never know) and now I'm glad I did. About two years after first installing them I started getting weird connection issues, prompting me to pull apart all my wiring and run all kinds of stupid tests and whatnot til I finally wheedled the issue down to this little connector. Took out my spare and swapped them, now I'm golden again. Probably going to just reinstall with proper punch down connectors eventually, but these will keep me going for a while.

    PROS: Fast and easy

CONS: Working life may be limited.

I bought 50 ft cables that I wanted to just be able to hook in on one side instead of wiring it manually and this worked for it.

    PROS: Easy installation
    Fits standard jacks
    Works

CONS: Saw a slight decrease in speeds. Went from high 110 MB/s to mid 100 MB/s. Not a huge decrease but I was hoping it wouldn't increase the latency at all.
