Inserts sounded like a good idea but ended up a big fail. Crimped 2 different cables. Neither worked when tested.. clipped the ends and tried again. Still no connectivity.

    Love the 2 piece design

    Pros: Easy to use

    Cons: None

The 2 piece design made separating and cutting the wires awesomely easy. Had never used this type before, but made 8 perfect connections first time. Takes a little patience with the separator, but makes terminating the ends easy.

    Inserts are a major pain

Cons: Annoying 2-piece construction, wasted product from insufficient crimp

I wish I had known what the product description meant by "w/inserts" I have never seen connectors with a two-piece construction like these have and the product photos do not show this. The inserts are a headache to use and I have had cables need to be recrimped because the pins didn't quite line up with the wires. I have terminated hundreds, maybe thousands, of cables so I know I'm not just a n00b. I'll make them work, but I expect to have a lot of waste from this bag of 100, not to mention the wasted time.

    Pros: None in this batch.

Cons: Got a pack of duds.

I am an IT professional, and don't remember the last time I made 3 bad cables in a row. The crazy thing was that I would put the cable in a tester and each time I unplugged and re-plugged the cable in the tester, it would fail on a different wire. Sometimes there was a failure on wire 1, and then the next time it would be wire 6.

Fortunately I still had plugs from an older packet, and I could make the cable I needed.
