Cat6 RJ-45 Toolless Keystone - Blue

Easy to use, toolless (no soldering or screwdriver req.) modular CAT 6 Keystone jack. RJ45 female connector. To be used with keystone wall plate or panel. Wiring diagram on clip.
This product is intended for use with 23~24 AWG Solid Ethernet cable. It will not work well with stranded Ethernet cable. If you're using stranded Ethernet cable, please use a punch-down style keystone jack.

Note that the width of the RJ45 keystones is such that two cannot be used side-by-side in the same wall-plate.

Comes with lever for ease of installation and retaining clip for secure connection.

Pros: - Cat6
- Blue
- Cheap

Cons: - Tool-less design is 5x more difficult and frustrating than a normal punchdown keystone

Save yourself some time and effort and get the normal keystone jacks, as they're far easier to terminate.

Pros: For a single port connector, if you have the patience and a pair of tweezers they could be okay

Cons: difficult to wire, unreliable connections, fact that they won't fit side by side should be highlighted for people like me that order from a phone.

I really wish I would have seen the note that these will not fit side by side before purchasing them. Beyond that they are difficult to string the wires correctly. Even after the tedious task of routing wires where tweezers were needed I still had about half of them that I had to take back apart to rewire to make a good connection.

Loved these toolless keystones. For your average dude who doesn't have access to the tool needed for regular keystones, for example just passing a few cables around the house, then these are awesome. The only improvement would be to the instruction manual to explain how to open them up. They all ship closed and the instructions don't mention how to open it! There isn't much to it once you know... you have to just pull apart the 'U' on the side where the cables connect and it'll separate.

Tool-less maybe, frustration-less, no way

Pros: Price

Cons: Frustrating to use
Hit-or-miss whether or not they work

I would never buy these tool-less connectors again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. I installed 30 of them and had problems with 6 or 7 and had to replace them. Normal adult size fingers cannot get the wires routed in place easily, my finger tips were sore afterwards. The little tool they supply is not adequate to close the connector, plyers are required. The only use I found for the tool was as a "push stick" to try to get the wires in place prior to closing it up. This is a product which attempts to be easier to use (tool-less) but in fact fails miserably, the standard punch down type is far far easier.

Take my advice. Do not buy these. Get the punch down version instead. If you use these, you'll be cursing yourself for not listening to me and many other reviewers.

Pros: Keystone jacks in general are the best things since sliced bread. These specific jacks are not the greatest.

Cons: There's a high failure rate with connections when just inserting the wires and clamping down.

The connections in these jacks are unreliable when following the instructions provided by monoprice. The best way to do this is to use a punchdown tool or a flat-top precision screwdriver to press the wires into the jaws before clamping the jack shut. If you don't mind punching down the wires first then you should have no issues with this product and will be extremely satisfied with your purchase.
