Fits snugly into the wall plates from Monoprice. Says tool-less but after getting the wires into the slots you need to trim the excess with something. Also, closing the lid so it locks down is much easier with pliers than with your hands. Great product! I ordered 8 and all 8 worked like a charm. Shipping was fast and price is unbeatable! Thanks Monoprice!

"tooless" overstates this. This was hard enough to use without tools that I broke out my punch down tool, and eventually decided that name branded jacks were better. Since I had a lot more to do, I saved myself some time and threw these out.

    Did not work for me

In the past, I have been using the monoprice keystone jacks that are the punchdown type. They have worked flawlessly on both solid and stranded cat5e cable. I actually accidentally ordered these by mistake on my last order but when I received them, I decided to give them a try. I carefully read the instructions online and did two jacks. One worked and one did not. I reinspected the jack that did not work and everything looked fine but it still did not work. I replaced the tooless jack with the punchdown type and it worked perfect. (this was all done on solid cat5e cable)
A week later I did two more jacks. Both did not work. Since I had extra time at this job, I decided to inspect the wires with my meter for conductivity. There were was one conductor of the 8 that was not making contact. I recrimped and still there was one wire that was not making contact. I changed the jack thinking that the problem was a defective jack. Once again, a different conductor was not making contact. I had to strip the outer shield of that particular conductor and then it worked. So for me, these jacks are very inconsistent so I would recommend using them. I think the jack is picky and maybe it depends on the thickness of the inner strand of wire of the of cat5e cable and the thickness of the shield. Either way, you can't go wrong with the punchdown type from monoprice because they are the same price and they always work. There are other reviews here on the different color tooless keystone jacks that agree with what happened to me.
