    Inexpensive but not for professionals

    Pros: Inexpensive, works

    Cons: Cheap cutting blades

Basically, I bought this because I didn't want to bring my crimping tool home from work. It's inexpensive, and by that I mean it's cheap. Not that there's anything really wrong with it, but if you're thinking about using the cutting blades for cutting anything other than Cat5/Cat6, forget it. I used it on Coax and it tore up the cheap razor blade. It's not really designed for thicker cable like that, but I'd probably get a tougher option in the future. Get this if you simply can't conceive of cutting anything other that Cat3/Cat5/Cat6 cable.

    Pros: Value

    Cons: none

I used this for crimping cat6 connectors - works great for 1/3 the price of anywhere else. I have the moonrise wire stripper, so I don't use this for stripping the outer jacket

    Pros: Works as expected
    Sturdy, seems durable

Cons: Jacket stripper cuts into the inner wires of Cat6 cables

This tool is perfect for making Cat5 cables, can't be beat for the price.
It has some minor flaws working with Cat6, but it's doable with patience.

    Pros: Cheap, works well.

Cons: Dont forget that these have a fly around clasp that holds the tool shut. Didn't notice at first and forced open. Had to re bend clasp afterwards

Works exactly as you would want them to.

    Great value for price

Got this basic (let's be honest - cheapest) version since we were trying to take advantage of a spare roll of Cat5e we had laying around, and only occasionally will need to make a few cables here and there, so don't need anything fancy. The tool is much sturdier than expected, and very intuitive to use even for someone who'd never made patch cables before - it only took me 3 "practice" crimps to get the hang of it, before I was making functional, strongly-attached connectors. Has a built-in cable cutter and stripper (with stop/guide to ensure the bare wires are the correct length, although you'll want to trim them again in a straight line after untwisting them into the proper color sequence) as well as the crimper itself. Definitely good value for the money!
