Effortlessly add 802.11n Wi-Fi access to any USB equipped Windows, Mac, or Linux PC using this USB Dualband 802.11N Wireless Adapter from Monoprice!
For more than a decade new wireless devices have been introduced to the market, each using the 2.4 GHz frequency. From phones to routers to specialized wireless devices, the 2.4 GHz band has become crowded with different devices each vying for their share of the limited bandwidth.
To relieve this congestion and restore high-speed Wi-Fi operations newer routers and adapters are adopting a dualband strategy, using 2.4GHz for primary compatibility, while adding the almost vacant 5 GHz frequency for high speed and high throughput.
This wireless USB adapter adopts this dual band technology. It can connect to ordinary routers or Wi-Fi access points using the 2.4GHz frequency, while retaining the ability to connect at 5 GHz for greater speed and signal reliability. Additionally, it can serve as a SoftAP, allowing your other wireless devices to connect to the Internet using this adapter as their primary access point.
The adapter features all the standard WEP, WPA, and WPA2 security protocols, including the combined WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK protocol. It supports the WPS Wi-Fi Protected Setup function, allowing it to be securely connected to router or AP without entering complicated passwords, addresses, and access keys. Additionally, it supports both ad-hoc and infrastructure connections for maximum flexibility.
The adapter is compatible with Windows XP and later, Mac OS® X, and Linux.
