Cannot use this with my Ubuntu 15.04 laptop

Pros: Small

Cons: The linked drivers (even on the Monoprice web page) have compile errors when compiled with the latest Ubuntu/Linux kernels. I am frustrated that there is no easy way to get the latest Realtek drivers identified and loaded. At 10$ the hassles to return the device is also too large.

Cannot get it to work on Ubuntu 15.04. If anyone knows which Realtek drivers compile correctly, please let me know.

Pros: Small. Works great. Trouble free.

Cons: None

This this was incredibly small. How they make it work at that size is miraculous!. Plugged it, selected the network, and voila. What a great design. Anything else I've seen would have stuck out and be subject to being damaged since the computer is on the floor and people walk by it. Just great!

Pros: Tiny

Cons: Linux install instructions are severally lacking.

Trying to install the drivers on Linux, and the install script asks if it is a "rtl8192cu" or a "rtl8192du" chipset. but I can't find on any specs what to choose.

Pros: Small in size. works good so far.

Cons: Installation does NOT go as described in instruction manual. had to jump through quiet a few steps to get it installed. Once installed, works good.

A little tricky to install, but works good after that. Might want to check instruction manual info compared to CD info, does NOT match !!! Took me about an hour to finally get it installed right.

Pros: Straightforward specs

Cons: No Windows 8 support

Of at least dozen upgrades from WinXP/Win7 to Win 8 during last year this is a first adapter which is not supported by Windows 8. It is recognized by the system, and the drivers are installed but speed test shows meager 4.5 Mbps instead of 30+ Mbps on some ancient no-name adapter. Granted, the specs clearly indicate lack of Win8 support, so i can't blame Monoprice and/or Realtek for that, so consider this review just as fair warning.

Thank you for your review on PID 8072. I just wanted to mention that the most up-to-date drivers (including for Windows 8) can be found at the following link:

When the page is up, please press ctrl+f and search for "RTL8188CUS". The correct drivers will be listed under that chipset. Should the issues still occur after the drivers have been fully installed, please let me know so I can further assist you. My apologies for the trouble and I hope this helps!
