Does not split a signal- wrong to call it a splitter

    Pros: Cheap

Cons: Does not 'split' signal to left and right channel in the 1/4 inch portions

This adapter does not split a signal at all- For example, for recording into a PC, you have a single stereo 3.5mm jack. You have microphones, which produce mono 1/4" plugs. You would want a splitter which takes one mic and sends it to the 'left' channel of the 3.5mm, and one mic sent to the 'right' channel of the 3.5 mm. Instead, both channels are mashed together, making discrete stereo recording to PC impossible. Utterly useless for almost any application- I can't think of why you'd want to mash both signals together while recording.

Imagine two guitars- you'd want one guitar in on right channel, a different one on the left in order to keep them separate in the mix- Not possible with this setup, even though it's advertised as a 'splitter'.

    Utterly useless.

    Hello,

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear PID 7209 did not work out for your needs. We unfortunately do not offer any simple adapters that would be capable of achieving that setup at this time. For that, you would either need an audio mixer or USB audio interface with 1/4" inputs. We do no offer any USB audio interfaces at this time but we do offer mixers at the following pages:

    Tabletop Mixers:

Not a Stereo to Mono Split

    Pros: cheap

Cons: not as advertised - or at least unclear

Like the above user, the title of this product is misleading. It says stereo to 1/4" mono, but fails to mention that it's a summed mono signal, which is mostly useless. The intent of most stereo mono adapters is to separate left and right channels from the stereo signal into two separate mono channels, each only containing the left OR right signal, not both.

This is just a box: if it's hanging off the edge of your computer and supporting some weight, the plug will bend and the connections eventually get worse. Something that comes with a cable will work better and last longer.

Adapter showed intermittent failure via cable tester. Monoprice happily and promptly refunded me with no questions, but audio adapters and cables from Monoprice are really becoming poor quality (half my recent cable order had to be returned). At least their customer service is still top notch, but what's the point if the product continually fails?

Pros: Great for conversion of cable diameter

Cons: The 1/4 inch side are too tight and the cables are kind of forced when placed therefore make a little noise or interference on the signal.
