Mini DisplayPort 1.1 Video + S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio to HDMI® Converter
Connect your mini DisplayPort and Toslink equipped MacBook®, laptop, or PC to an HDMI® display using this Mini DisplayPort Video + S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio to HDMI® Converter from Monoprice.
This adapter combines the mini DisplayPort video signal and the Digital Optical (Toslink) audio signal from the 3.5mm digital audio output into an HDMI audio/video signal. The adapter supports resolutions up to 1920x1080p, up to 36-bit Deep Color (12-bits per channel), and high-definition, multichannel audio, including DTS-HD Master Audio™ and Dolby TrueHD™. The adapter is powered using an available USB port. Note that this is not bidirectional and therefore will NOT convert HDMI video to mini DisplayPort.
Features:
- 28" cable length
- Supports resolutions up to 1920x1080p
- Supports up to 12-bit per channel (36-bit total) Deep Color
- Support uncompressed 2-channel and 5.1-channel LPCM audio
- Supports compressed 5.1-channel audio, such as DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD
Note for Mac® Mini users using dual monitors: There is an unresolved issue with using both the mini-DVI and Mini DisplayPort video outputs at the same time. When the mini-DVI cable is disconnected, the Mini DisplayPort output ceases to function, causing the display to show an "unsupported format" error. The solution is to use the mini-DVI output for the main display and the Mini DisplayPort output for the secondary display.
