Good Looking Cheap Hardware

Pros: Good looking plate on front end.

Cons: The supplied screws are cheap flat heads. Easily damaged loosing the head. Do not drill.

I installed 4 of these in a living room for surround sound system. These are easy to install into low voltage wall boxes. The supplied screws are cheap metal flat head that do not screw easily. The whole head fell off of one completely. Frustrating install.

Great product, after turning the couplers

Pros: Great price! 4 of these and one with 2 pairs on it for less than the cost of one at local home improvement store.
2 piece units. I mounted these outdoors in weatherproof electrical boxes and didn't need the decora covers, just the insert.

Cons: Have to loosen the nut on each connector and turn it slightly so the wires passing through the binding posts have more room and less chance to short out.

Great product. Used with 14 gauge wire to connect 6 speakers in my back yard. Used on plate with 2 pairs (3325) for the patio speakers, and a total of 4 of these across my back wall, all in weatherproof PVC boxes. I didn't use the decora plate covers - can donate them to charity - and didn't use the screws as they were either too long or too short for my application. Bought stainless steel philips head 6-32 by 3/4" at local hardware store. These are working out great. Once installed I can easily take in my speakers or change them out!

Good connectors, bad plate

Pros: Good quality connectors

Cons: bad plate

I ordered 5 of these, one came with some dents, as if someone stabbed the inner plate with a screwdriver a few times.

When combining with "1-Gang Low Voltage Mounting Bracket"(7013), plate sits ~2mm from the wall, which is a very noticeable gap. There are 2 factors contributing to this problem.

1) The inner plate is too thick, it actually protrudes outside of the finish plate and would result in around a 0.5mm gap even if installed directly to the wall without any mounting bracket, which offsets the plate an additional 1mm. I've already installed a couple keystone wall plates from monoprice, none of which have this issue, the inner plate on those items is actually recessed into the finish plate to allow room for the mounting bracket and sit tightly against the wall once installed.
2) The bracket mounting screw heads are too bulky, they add another ~0.5mm to the final offset because they don't let the inner plate & finish plate sit tight against each other. I also happen to have the "2-Gang 5.1 Surround Sound Distribution Wall Plate" (4012) which has different screws (phillips& not as massive head), which actually fit just right with these wall plates. I don't know why they weren't included with this plate.

No issue with the actual connectors.
